Change a Line Nickname for Cox Mobile


Use the following information to change a line nickname for a Cox Mobile line.


Go to My Account, enter your User ID and Password, and then click Sign In.

Note: If you do not remember your User ID or Password, or experience an issue signing in, see Recover Your Cox User ID or Reset Your Cox Password.


Scroll down to the Manage your services & equipment section and click the Mobile icon.

On the Mobile Account page, under the Lines section, look for the mobile phone number you would like to update and click the Manage line link.

On the Mobile Account Overview page, your device nickname will be displayed at the top. Click the pencil icon next to the name.


Choose a line nickname within the following requirements.

  • Maximum of 10 characters.
  • No capitalization of characters.
  • No spaces.
  • No abusive words.
  • No numbers.
  • No special characters, such as @$#%.
  • No two lines on the same account can have the same nickname.

Enter the new nickname in the field.

Note: Cox automatically checks the nickname against blocked names. If a blocked name is chosen, then a new nickname must be chosen using the rules from step 3.


Tap Save.

Result: The new line nickname is saved.
