After the modem is successfully connected to the network, the Power, Receive, Send, and Online indicators illuminate continuously to indicate that the modem is online and fully operational.

The WPS button is located on the top of the modem. When pressed, the LED flashes amber, showing the pairing process is in progress.

The following ports are available on the back of the modem.

  • RESET - Use this button in the unlikely event that you want to restore the default factory settings. This button is recessed to prevent accidental resets of your WiFi modem.
  • USB - Connects to the USB port on your media device.

    Note: An additional USB port is located on the front.
     
  • LAN 1-4 (Gigabit Ethernet 1-4 also known as LAN 1-4) - Four 10/100/1000 auto-sensing RJ-45 ports. Connect devices on your LAN (Local Area Network) such as a computer, hub or switch to these ports. Only one port is active at a time.
  • Coax / WAN - Connect your coaxial cable line to this port.
  • AC IN - Connect the supplied power cord to this port.
     

MAC Address / WiFi Network Label

  • MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F).
    • A MAC address is unique.
    • The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the manufacturer of the device.
    • This information is usually found on a sticker located on the bottom of the modem.
  • This label is located on the bottom of the device, which contains the default Network Name (SSID) and Wi-Fi Security Key (Preshared Key).

Troubleshooting

The lights indicate the current status of your gateway. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

Off No power. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None
Receive

downstream light
Blinking Green Scanning for downstream channel. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None - connection from the computer to the Internet established on one channel.
Solid Blue None - connection from the computer to the Internet established on one or more channels.
Send

upstream light
Blinking Green Scanning for upstream channel. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None - connection from the Internet to the computer established on one channel.
Solid Blue None - connection from the Internet to the computer established on one or more channels.
Online

Internet light
Off No connection. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Blinking Green WiFi modem scanning for an Internet connection. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None - WIFi modem operational
WIRELESS

2.4 Ghz Light
Solid Green None - WIFi enabled at the 2.4 GHz frequency
Blinking Green Any of the following applies.
  • 2.4 GHz wireless connection is made between the SBG6900-AC and another WI-Fi enabled wireless device on your home network.
  • The WPS Pairing process between the SBG6900-AC and WPS-enabled wireless device was successful.
  • The WPS Pairing process either failed or did not complete after two minutes.
Blinking Amber WPS Pairing process is progress and then reflects solid green within five seconds
WIRELESS

5 Ghz light
Solid Green None - WIFi enabled at the 5 GHz frequency
Blinking Green Any of the following applies.
  • 5.0 GHz wireless connection is made between the SBG6900-AC and another WI-Fi enabled wireless device on your home network.
  • The WPS Pairing process between the SBG6900-AC and WPS-enabled wireless device was successful.
  • The WPS Pairing process either failed or did not complete after two minutes.
Blinking Amber WPS Pairing process is in progress and then reflects solid green within five seconds
USB

USB light
Solid Green USB connection is made between the SBG6900-AC and a USB device
Blinking Green Data activity is in progress
