After the cable modem is successfully registered on the network, the POWER, RECEIVE, SEND, and ONLINE indicators continuously indicate that the cable modem is online and fully operational.

The ARRIS / Surfboard SB6182 has the following ports available on the back of the modem:

  • ETHERNET - Connects to the Ethernet port on your computer
  • CABLE - Connects to the cable wall outlet
  • POWER - Connects the cable modem to the power adapter

MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F). A MAC address is unique. The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the device's manufacturer.

Solid Green Connection from the computer to the Internet is established on one channel.
Solid Blue The modem operates on multiple channels (downstream bond mode).

Off Upstream channel inactive - Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Flashing Scanning for an upstream channel - Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green Connection from the Internet to the computer is established on one channel.
Solid Blue The modem operates on multiple channels (upstream bond mode).
ONLINE

online
Off No connection. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None.
Flashing None. Scanning for configuration parameters.

Flashing None. A single device connected to the Ethernet port transfers data between the computer and the cable modem.
