Activating Readable Voice Mail


No need to dial home to check your messages; instead, listen to your voice mail message or read the transcribed text from an email address of your choice.

  • Display transcribed text next to the playing message if Readable Voice Mail is turned on.
  • Add multiple email addresses to receive voice mail notifications.
  • View the Legal Disclaimer.

To activate Readable Voice Mail, follow these steps.


Access your Voice Tools at voicetools.cox.com.


Enter your primary User ID and Password.

Note: If you do not remember your User ID or Password, or experience an issue signing in, see Recover Your Cox User ID or Reset Your Cox Password.


Click Settings.


Is your Voice Mail activated?

  • If no, then click the Off button.
  • If yes, then continue to the next step.

To view additional settings, click the Voice Mail row.

Complete the steps below.

  1. Next to Voice Mail Notification, click Off to turn on Voice Mail Notification.
  2. Enter an email address.

    Note: You can add up to five email addresses.

  3. From the Choose Notification Method drop-down menu, select if you would like to send an Audio Message, Transcript, or Both to the email address.

    Result: The voice mail audio and text are sent to the email address listed in Voice Tools. The phone number of the voice caller also displays in the email.

To deactivate this feature, click the On button for Readable Voice Mail.
