# Prepare for Your Cox Installation Appointment ## What to expect, along with steps to prepare ## Step-by-step prep There are a few things you can do before your Cox installation appointment. ### Sign up for reminders Sign up for how you'd like to receive reminders (email or text) under **Communication Preferences** in My Profile. You'll receive a notification the day before your appointment, confirming the time. ### Cox App & more If something comes up that interferes with your appointment, you can change your time/day on My Accountor through the [Cox App](https://www.cox.com/residential/learn/cox-app.html). Be sure to download the [mobile apps](https://www.cox.com/residential/learn/apps.html) associated with your services ahead of time. ### While you wait Before you have your services installed, you can use your Cox User ID and password to start watching programs on our Contour app, access Cox Hotspots for wifi, and more. # Installation Appointment Checklist ## Prep your home On the day of your appointment, please make sure to help us with the following: - A person aged 18 or older must be present throughout the installation (note: in Nebraska, the required age is 19 or older). - Clear the areas where the technician will be working. - Cable outlets should be easily accessible, or keep in mind where you'd want any new outlets installed.* - Technicians should be able to access exterior cable connection points; please keep any pathways clear. - Any TVs, laptops or computers you want hooked up are in your home at the time of installation. - If you're keeping your own equipment (such as wireless cards, modems, routers), make sure they're available to the technician. - While we love pets, please keep them secured while we install your services. ## The day your technician arrives Your technician will arrive within your scheduled two-hour window. They will contact you 15 minutes beforehand. You'll hear the game plan before the technician walks through your home, finding the best setup for your services and devices, and then they'll hook everything up. Have questions? Don't be shy. Ask your technician anything about your new setup. ## Looking for more? - [Welcome to Cox services](https://www.cox.com/residential/learn/welcome.html) - [Visit Cox support](https://www.cox.com/residential/support/home.html) - [Shop Cox plans](https://www.cox.com/residential/special-offers/bundles.html) --- *The standard installation charge covers up to 3 outlets.
