UNDERSTANDING INTERNET SPEEDS
Internet speed is more than a number
Understanding Internet speed
There are two types of Internet speeds: download speed is how fast data transfers from the Internet to your device, while upload speed is how fast data transfers from your device to the Internet. They’re measured in megabits per second (Mbps). That means 150 Mbps Internet can download an HD movie in about 2 minutes.

Check out the comparison below to find the best Internet speed for your favorite online activities.
Use all your devices at the same time while streaming multiple 4K videos.
Connect multiple devices at once and play games online.
Stream music, bank online, view photos on social media and go shopping online.
Surf the web and check email.
A good option for light Internet browsing on up to three devices.
How much Internet speed do I need?
The speed your household needs depends on a few things: the number of Internet users in your home, the number of devices you have and how you’re using your speeds.
Number of users
It’s simple: more Internet users in your home means you’ll need more bandwidth. If you’ve got a big family, look into getting a faster plan.
Do you have gamers, binge-watching TV buffs or social media stars in your family? These activities require downloading a lot of data, so you may need a faster plan.
Number of devices
If you have computers, smartphones and tablets galore, you may need faster Internet speed to use them all. Keep in mind: devices like gaming consoles need more bandwidth than TVs.
Using too many devices at once can slow your wifi traffic. Look into higher speeds if you need more bandwidth.
