Streaming video content, like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime on Contour 2, using apps marked as Internet or TV Go, or downloading large files will use large amounts of data.
Activities that use less data
You can watch live TV through your cable receiver, stream on the Contour app or watchtv.cox.com without using as much data.

You can get text messages, browser alerts or emails when you’ve used 85%, 100% and 125% of your monthly data plan. Simply go to My Profile to verify your email address and opt-in to text message alerts.

Do other Internet providers have data plans based on usage?
Yes. As people have changed how they use data, Internet service plans have changed too. Some Internet service providers are under trial or have launched similar data usage plans in areas across the country.
If I use Cox Wifi or CableWifi® hotspots outside my home, does it use my data?
No. Public or commercial wifi hotspots, including Cox Wifi and CableWifi hotspots, don’t count toward your data plan.
When will I see updates to my data usage meter?
Data usage is updated every night and the Data Usage Meter shows usage through the previous day. Sometimes, it may take more time to update the meter.
What time period is covered by my data plan?
You have a monthly data plan, which is based on the start and end dates of your billing cycle. Look at your Data Usage Meter to see your usage cycle dates.

All Cox Internet plans include 1 TB (1024 GB) per month of data usage. Unlimited and 500 GB Additional Data Plans can be added for an additional monthly charge. Data usage in excess of plan may result in a $10 charge for up to 50 GB of additional data and for each additional 50 GB block, except for Unlimited Data Plan subscribers.
