How much internet speed do I need?
Whether you’re an occasional emailer or an all-night binge-watcher, we’re here to help you find the internet speed and package that’s just right for you. If I pick the wrong speed, can I upgrade later?
Yes – we want you to have the speed that best fits your needs so you always have the option to change it later. You can do this online or you may contact our Cox Customer Care team by chat or by phone. We try our best to get you what you need as fast as possible so if you have a modem that is compatible with your requested speeds, we can upgrade your speeds in minutes to get you up and running in no time. Too much speed? No problem – you can choose to downgrade. If you’ve taken advantage of some special promotional offers, you may not be able to maintain discounted rates if you change your speed. How fast is Cox Internet?
Why am I required to rent the Panoramic Wifi Gateway?
By offering the Panoramic Wifi Gateway as a rental, it gives us the capability to upgrade the software and firmware on these devices to improve them while protecting and managing devices connected to our network. This also ensures that as technology evolves, we are able to provide you with the newest and best devices in your home.
How is the Panoramic Wifi modem different from other modems Cox offers?
The Panoramic Wifi Gateway is the only Wifi Modem we offer for rental. This device combines a DOCSIS 3.1 (3.0 for Internet Starter, Internet Essential and Internet Preferred) cable modem with a powerful 2-port gigabit wired router, dual band 802.11 AC wireless router which also supports 802.11 A/G/N.
What is wifi?
Wifi and internet are 2 different things. Wifi is an alternative to cables connecting devices. Wifi gives you wireless access to the internet from anywhere in your home via a modem, which translates the signal from Cox. The router distributes your internet connection through your home so all of your devices can communicate with each other and the internet.
Can Cox Complete Care techs help set up or troubleshoot my electronics?
Yes. Our techs provide set up assistance, configuration and troubleshooting for a wide range of home electronics including TVs, gaming systems and connected devices such as Amazon Echo and Google Home. They can also help set up smart home hubs (including Homelife Hubs) but do not provide ongoing support for Homelife services and equipment.
I may need a technician to make a home visit. Does Cox Complete Care cover the cost of service calls?
Do I have a data plan and what happens if I go over it?
All of our Internet plans included unlimited data so you can surf, stream, share and game without limits or worrying about overages.
All of our residential internet plans include 1.25 terabytes (1,280 gigabytes) of data at no additional cost. If you go over, we’ll automatically add 50 gigabytes of data for $10 to your next bill. That's enough for about 15 hours of streaming HD video. If you use that 50 gigabytes, we automatically add another 50 gigabytes for $10 and so on until you reach our $100 limit of data overage charges or until your next usage cycle begins. If it’s you’re first month going over, no sweat. You'll find a one-time, courtesy credit for each $10 charge on your next bill.

How much data do I need now that I am working from home a lot?
Since data usage has increased as a result of many more people working from home and sheltering in place due to COVID-19, we have increased our data plan allowance by 25% to 1.25 TB (1,280 GB). For most people, this increase is more than enough to cover any extra usage. We encourage you to visit the data usage calculator to get a sense of how much data you’ll need.
What is changing about Cox pricing? What can I change after I sign up for Cox Services?
With our new flexible pricing options, you can buy only the services you want rather than signing up for multi-product bundles. You can build your own package by starting with our discounted Internet offers. You can always add TV, Phone, or Homelife Automation at our everyday prices (then-current regular (non-promotional) rates) and remove them without impacting the rates on your remaining services. If you want to change the tier of any of your services, like a different Internet speed or TV package, we will work with you find the service that meets your needs, but your rate and available discounts will be different since you are changing the level of services you are subscribed to. If you sign up for an Internet Bundle, removing either Panoramic Wifi or Cox Complete Care from your bundle will cause you to lose your bundle discount and promotional pricing. If you choose to sign up for a term agreement to get additional savings, ETFs apply for termination of your Internet service, but not if you cancel your TV, Phone, or Homelife Automation plans. If you’d rather not to make a commitment on your Internet plan, options are available without a term agreement for an additional small monthly fee. Homelife Security with Starter Equipment Kit requires a separate 2-year term agreement with ETFs.
What is the FCC Affordable Connectivity Program?
The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC program to help households struggling to pay for Internet service during the pandemic. Through this program, the Federal government will provide a discount of up to $50 per month towards Internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on Tribal lands. It is limited to one monthly service discount and one device per household.

Use of a Cox-approved DOCSIS 3.0 or higher cable modem is required for internet service. (Gigablast and Ultimate service require 3.1). WiFi equipment meeting the 802.11ac standard is required for optimal wireless Ultimate and Gigablast performance. Internet delivered through Cox’s hybrid fiber-coax network. Actual speeds may vary based on type of equipment used, environmental and structural conditions in your home, number of users and other factors.
