How fast is Cox Internet?
Cox's broadband network can deliver speeds that are even faster than 5G providers'. Cox offers five different speeds as follows, starting with the fastest download speed: Cox Gigablast up to 1 Gbps (1,000 Mbps), Internet Ultimate up to 500 Mbps Internet Preferred up to 250 Mbps, and Internet Essential up to 100 Mbps.
Which internet speed should I get?
The best way to choose the right internet speed for you is to find one that matches your needs and lifestyle. For example, if you generally go online to check email, pay bills or browse the internet, Cox’s Internet Essential plan with up to 100 Mbps would work for you. If you work from home and love streaming shows and movies…then we recommend Internet Preferred with up to 250 Mbps. And, if you’ll have a few people in your house working or streaming at the same time, level up to Internet Ultimate with up to 500 Mbps. For high-usage households with multiple users streaming, gaming and going online all at the same time…Cox Gigablast with up to 1 Gbps (1,000 Mbps) or 940 Mbps ensures fast, stable connections for all.
What is Cox Gigablast Internet?
Cox Gigablast Internet is our gigabit internet product. Gigabit internet means that 1 billion bits of data is transferred through a fiber optic network in one second. Due to limitations of standard internet hardware, Cox Gigablast download speeds are up to 940 Mbps.
Can I rent a modem from Cox?
Yes, customers can rent a modem-router combo called the Panoramic Wifi Gateway from Cox. This device combines a DOCSIS 3.1 (3.0 for Internet Starter, Internet Essential and Internet Preferred) cable modem with a powerful 2-port gigabit wired router, dual band 802.11 A/G/N. New customers can choose to rent a Panoramic Wifi Gateway when checking out and existing customers can visit My Account on cox.com.
What is Cox Panoramic Wifi?
The Cox Panoramic Wifi Gateway is a next generation modem-router combination that delivers great coverage and comes with tools for managing in-home wifi networks. Panoramic Wifi also comes with Advanced Security for network protection, a mobile app for easy network management and Elite Gamer to reduce PC gaming lag.
What is 5G, and how is Cox Internet different?
5G stands for “fifth generation,” the most recent version of cellular/mobile technology. Although 5G is a mobile/cellular technology, it can also be used to deliver internet service to a residence. 5G home internet uses nearby cellular towers to send a signal to the modem/router in your home. The speed and reliability of that signal can be severely degraded by several factors, from how far it needs to travel to reach your home to objects that might stand in the way – think trees, buildings and even windows. In comparison, Cox’s reliable, fiber-based broadband network can deliver internet speeds that are even faster than 5G providers.1
Note: 5G is different than 5 Gpbs (5 gigabits per second, which is an Internet speed) and 5 GHz (a setting you might see on your wifi router).

What’s the difference between each package?
Cox offers many different package plans that combine price, internet speed and included products. For example, some packages may include both internet and Cox Contour TV, but include different internet speeds or number of channels.
If I pick the wrong package, can I change it later?
Yes, customers can make changes to their account by contacting the Cox Customer Care team. If customers want to downgrade services, it’s best to do so within 30 days of signing up for service. After 30 days, downgrades are still possible, but customers may lose promotional rates and an early termination fee if the package includes a term agreement. And, of course, customers may upgrade services at any time by logging into My Account.
What is a term agreement?
A term agreement is the commitment between customers and Cox that guarantees special price savings with the promise of sticking together for a certain period of time. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with your service within the first 30-days of service, we offer a hassle-free 30-day money-back guarantee. This means, if you cancel within your first 30 days, there will be no early termination fee (ETF). To do this, please call the Cox Customer Care team. After the first 30 days passes, there may be a charge to cancel before the term agreement ends. We know a term agreement isn't for everyone, so we also offer a month-to-month option without a term agreement for an additional $10/month during checkout. Contour
Contour is available to residential customers with Cox Contour TV Starter or higher TV service. Digital receiver/remote and Cox approved modem required. The Contour TV Package includes the Contour guide with personal show recommendations, access to over a dozen additional HD channels, and optional Record 6 DVR service, which allows you to record 6 shows at once and watch all your recorded shows on any TV in the house. Record 6 DVR service fees are in addition to Contour service and Record 6 DVR receiver charges. Receivers to view programming in additional rooms are extra. Storage claim based on 1,000 hours of SD programming; capacity varies with mix of HD and SD recordings.
Contour App
The Contour app is available to customers with any Cox TV service. The app is compatible with iPad 2 or newer (iPad 1 is compatible with the Cox TV Connect app, also found in the App store). Personal show recommendations based on TV viewing and the Watch On TV app feature requires the Contour TV package. iPad is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
Contour TV

Cox Voice Premier
Available to new residential customers in Cox serviceable areas who newly subscribe to Cox Voice Premier service and who have not disconnected from Cox Digital Telephone or Voice in the last 30 days. Cox Voice Premier consists of a Primary Phone line with 14 calling features, voice mail, and Unlimited Domestic Long Distance plan. Unlimited plan long distance minutes are limited to direct-dialed residential, non-commercial voice calls within the United States, to Canada, and to landline phones in Mexico, and require subscription to Cox for local, toll and state to state long distance service. Calls to Mexico that terminate on a cell phone or other wireless device will incur a $0.10 per minute charge. Usage that is not consistent with such use may subject your account to review and/or suspension or termination of your service. Advertised rate includes monthly recurring service fees but excludes equipment charges, directory assistance, operator-assisted calls, per use or à la carte features, and charges for long distance and international calling not included in the calling plan.
