With a dual WiFi network, you can connect more devices with less interference and buffering. When you connect to WiFi, you’ll see two networks with the same name, except one ends in 5 Ghz.

Here’s a rundown to help you choose which network to connect to:

5 Ghz

  • Use when you’re far from your router or if your device can’t connect to the 5Ghz network

StraightUp Internet FAQs

Sign in to My Account to see the date through which you have service. The date will be in red, and you will have service through the end of that day.

StraightUp Internet is a prepaid internet service. You can pay with a credit card or debit card online or with cash in a Cox Solutions Store.

If you're enrolled in EasyPay automatic payments, there's no need to manually add another month to your service. When your service is set to expire, you will automatically be charged for an additional month.


If you're not enrolled in EasyPay, you may be outside of the availability window to add another month to your service. The window to add another month to your service is typically around 30 days prior to your expiration date. You should receive an email when it's time to add another month to your service.

Since you pay upfront for a month of Internet service, there's no option to cancel service or pro-rate charges.

You can pause your service without penalty! Simply don't add another month to your service after the month is up, and you won't be charged for another month of service. If you're enrolled in EasyPay automatic payments, contact us to cancel future payments. There are no fees for not recharging your service, and you can keep your equipment and cables.

You own the equipment (modem and cables), so it's yours to keep. It's easy and quick to get up and running again if you decide to add an additional month of service at any point since you won't need to wait for a new installation kit.

Yes! If you're within 30 days of your service expiration date, sign in to My Account to Add One Month of service.


If you're past the 30 day window, go here to add another month of service. You'll get a new account number, so you'll need to register for My Account again or contact us to link your new account number to your existing My Account credentials.

A variety of factors, including your modem placement, the number of connected devices, device limitations, and others, affect your actual speed.

Cox TV, Phone, and Homelife cannot be combined with StraightUp Internet since they are billed differently. These services are billed after the month of service, whereas StraightUp Internet is paid prior to the month of service.

Please contact us if you plan to move so we can be sure your service can be transferred to your new home and update your account.
