Can’t connect to the Internet? We’re here to help troubleshoot some common issues.

Fixing Common Internet Issues

If Your Device is Connected Over WiFi

Click the wireless icon located on your desktop navigation bar to make sure you're connected to the right network. Try hardwiring your device to the modem following these steps:

  1. Connect your computer to the modem with an Ethernet cord in one of the numbered slots (1-4).
  2. Power off the modem and the router for 30 seconds and restart.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Once all devices are back up, the Internet should be connected.

If Your Device is Hardwired to the Modem

Try bypassing your router.

  1. Remove the Ethernet or USB cord from the router, but keep it connected to the modem.
  2. Disconnect the cord that runs from the computer to the router from both devices.
  3. Connect the Ethernet or USB cord from the modem directly to your computer.
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Remove the modem power cord to reset the modem. Plug in the modem after 30 seconds to turn it back on.

All Cox Internet plans include 1 TB (1024 GB) per month of data usage. Unlimited and 500 GB Additional Data Plans can be added for an additional monthly charge. Data usage in excess of plan may result in a $10 charge for up to 50 GB of additional data and for each additional 50 GB block, except for Unlimited Data Plan subscribers.
