Customize Your Homelife System

It’s easy to teach your home new tricks by customizing your Homelife system:

Your House, Your Rules

Homelife Automations allow you to automatically control all the connected devices in your home, making your home safer, more efficient and easier to manage. There are two types of automations.

  • RULES: Automations that activate automatically at a specific time of day, when device status changes or when your alarm system status changes.
  • SCENES: Automations that control multiple smart devices in your home all at once and are manually activated by the user.

You can set up real-time notifications for your automations to stay connected with what's happening at home while you're away. Notifications can be sent via text message. Notifications, pictures and video clips can be sent via email. Be sure to set up Contacts for anyone who should receive Homelife notifications.

Here are some examples of automations shared by our employees and customers that can help make your home work for you.*

Scenes

  • Icon of a sun breaking through clouds

Good Morning: Disarm your security system from Arm Night mode, turn on lights and adjust the thermostat.

  • Icon of a man walking away from a house

Leaving: Arm your security system in Arm Away mode, turn off the lights and adjust the thermostat.

  • Icon of a man in a house

Returning Home: Disarm your security system from Arm Away mode, turn on lights, unlock front door and adjust the thermostat.

  • Moon and Stars Icon

Good Night: Arm your security system in Arm Night mode, lock the doors, turn off lights and adjust the thermostat.

Rules

Turn on an entryway lamp when you unlock the door to brighten your homecoming.

  • Icon: smoke

Turn on lights and unlock doors if the smoke/heat detector alarms to make exiting your home easier in case it is filled with smoke.

Receive a video clip via email when the front door opens during certain times of the day to see the kids arrive home safely from school.
