Cox.net Email Transitioning to Yahoo

We want you to have the best email experience, so we’re transitioning your email service and associated support to Yahoo Mail.

  • You’ll get to keep your current email address, messages, folders, calendar, and contacts.
  • Yahoo Mail will become your new email provider, and they’ll manage and support your email services.

This only impacts your cox.net email address. None of your other Cox services will be impacted.

  • If you’re using your cox.net email address and password for your Cox My Account information, it’ll stay the same unless you change it.
  • If you create a new password in Yahoo, it won’t impact the Cox My Account password.
  • If you want to make changes to your Cox My Account information, refer to Changing Your Password on Cox.com.

We know your cox.net email address is important to you. We selected Yahoo Mail to continue your service because they’re a trusted provider. They’ll continue to offer the advanced support and enhanced protection for your email account that you've had at Cox. We’re working with Yahoo to provide a seamless transition for our cox.net email customers. Be sure to review Yahoo’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which will govern your email account after the move.

  • You will keep your email address, including @cox.net, messages, folders, calendar, and contacts.

You’ll need to enter your cox.net email address, including @cox.net, and your existing password. If you have forgotten your password, before completing the move, go to Cox email login and click Forgot Password.

  • All your cox.net email content will automatically be move over to Yahoo Mail, but this could take 24-48 hour.
  • You’ll still be able to check email on your mobile device, or through third party apps like Outlook. But you’ll need to set up these services once the transition is complete.
  • To set up Yahoo on these apps / clients, select your device and follow the appropriate instructions:
  • Once we’ve transferred all your email content for each cox.net email address, Yahoo will prompt you to accept their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, or you will receive an email providing instructions about accepting Yahoo’s Terms of Service and completing this transition.
  • If you have 2-step authentication for your Cox.net email or would like to implement this feature, it can be reestablished or set-up after your account is transitioned.
  • There is no cost to continue to use the cox.net email address we are transitioning to Yahoo Mail.

Note: There are other plans with additional features available for a fee through Yahoo.

  • Cox will no longer manage or support any email services once the transition to Yahoo is complete.

Note: If you are experiencing issues with your email before the transition, contact Cox for support. After the transition, you should reach out to Yahoo directly.

  • Yahoo Mail will help you stay connected by protecting your inbox with robust convenient security options including the following features:
    • Up to 1,000 GB of free storage
    • Two-Step Verification - To help prevent others from accessing your information.
    • Option to add an Account Recovery Email and Phone Number - You can always access your account.
    • Accessibility features - Includes high-contrast themes, dynamic text resizing, and VoiceOver screen reader compatibility.

If you choose not to transition and do not accept Yahoo’s Terms of Service or  Privacy Policy and would like to retain your content, you will need to move your data to another service provider or download the desired material before your transition date. There are free and paid software options available to help you archive your email content. See Transferring Cox Email Content to Another Email Provider.

After your email has transitioned you will not be able to send or receive email until you log into Yahoo Mail and accept the Terms of Service and the Yahoo Privacy Policy.

The offer to accept Yahoo’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy will be available for 365 days from the date of your transition notification email or redirect. Yahoo also reserves the right to permanently deactivate accounts for extended inactivity. For more information, see Reasons Yahoo deactivates or deletes an account.
