Using the Cox Business Internet Speed Test


Use the following steps to check the speed of your device's connection to the internet with the Cox Business Internet Speed Test.

Note: For the most accurate results, run this test while using a computer that is connected to your modem with a CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable. For more tips, see Ways to Improve Your Internet Speed Experience.


Go to myaccount.coxbusiness.com and sign in using your User ID and Password.

Note: If you have not yet registered for a user ID, you may do so by selecting New to Cox Business MyAccount? Register now.


From the MyAccount Overview page, click My Services.


In the Internet tab, click the Speed Test Tool icon.


Select the server closest to your location.


To begin the speed test, click Start Test.

Result: The test progress displays.


Compare your speed test results to your package speeds. Use the following tips to help you troubleshoot your results.

  • Reset equipment, including your modem and device you are running the test on
  • Make sure you are using a CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable to connect to your modem from your device
  • Turn off WiFi on your device
  • Close all other programs that are running
  • Check to make sure your equipment is compatible with your package
  • Check your device speed limits
  • Update your software, including your operating system and internet browser
