Using the Cox Business Internet Speed Test


Use the following steps to check the speed of your device's connection to the internet with the Cox Business Internet Speed Test.

Note: For the most accurate results, run this test while using a computer that is connected to your modem with a CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable. For more tips, see Ways to Improve Your Internet Speed Experience.


From the Let's run a quick check-up page, complete the following.

  1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the listed location, and then select the server closest to your location.
  2. Click Start Test.

    Result: The test progress displays.

Would you like to compare the speed test results to your subscribed speed?

  • If no, then scroll down to learn more about your speed results, factors that can affect your speed, and tips on how to improve your internet speeds. All steps complete.
  • If yes, then continue to the next step.

Go to MyAccount.coxbusiness.com and sign in using your User ID and Password.

Note: If you have not created a MyAccount profile with a User ID and Password, see Setting Up Your MyAccount Profile.


In the Administrative Tools and Service Management section, click the Internet icon.

Do you have more than one account?

  • If yes, click the Select an account drop-down arrow and then click the associated account.

  • If no, then continue to the next step.

From the Business Internet page, click the View Service Details link.

Result: The Data Service Details pop-up displays.


Review the Data Service Details pop-up and compare your subscribed service to your speed test results.

Note: The speeds display as download x upload speed.

Example: Cox Business 25 – 25 Mbps x 5 Mbps is 25 megabits per second download and 5 megabits per second upload.

Note: Your subscription speed is delivered to the modem, not to your wireless devices. Testing speeds on a wireless connection may not deliver the results you expect. Other factors, like device capability limits, may also result in slower speeds.
