Understanding Static IP

Cox Communications uses two types of IP addresses.
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Dynamic | This IP address changes over time, often with only a 24-hour lease to a particular IP address, and is the default for Cox Business customers. Note: After the lease is expired, the IP address may change or may remain the same, however, there are no guarantees of what the IP address will be. |
| Static | This IP address is assigned to the customer and does not change. Note: Cox Business only offers static IP addressing version 4 or IPv4. |
Cox Business offers the following static IP options for purchase.
- Single Static IP
- Multiple Single Static IP
- Blocks of Consecutive IPs in the form of a Classless Inter-domain Routing (CIDR) Block
