Troubleshooting the URC8820 Remote Control

The table below is an overview of how to fix issues on the URC8820 remote. For additional troubleshooting information, refer to Remote Control User Guides.

Device buttons do not blink.The batteries may be dead.Replace the batteries in your remote control.
Device keys blink but the remote does not control my equipment.
  • You may be pressing more than one button or pressing the button for a different device.
  • You may not have selected the correct device you want to control.
  • You may not have programmed the device you want to control to your remote.

Press only the correct device button while pointing the remote at the equipment you need to control.

Follow the instructions on the back of the remote to program the remote to the correct device you want to control.

None of the codes work for my device.N/A

I want to switch the volume control from AUX back to TV.N/A
  1. Press and release the TV button.
  2. Press and hold the Mute and Select buttons at the same time until the TV button blinks twice.
  3. Release both buttons.
  4. Press the Vol+ button.
  5. Press and release the TV button.
  6. Test and verify that the volume is now being controlled on the TV.
My TV turns off when my cable receiver turns on.The cable receiver and remote are not synchronized.Manually press the power button on the front of the cable receiver to synchronize the device and the remote.
My remote control does not operate my cable receiver, for example, turning it on and off, channeling up and down.Your remote control is preprogrammed to work with either a Cisco cable receiver or a Motorola cable receiver.
  1. Press the Cable button and try to turn your remote on or off.
  2. Did it work?
  • If yes, then the problem is resolved.
  • If no, then identify the brand of cable receiver by looking for the manufacturer’s label on the receiver.

Cisco cable receiver:

  1. Press and release the Cable button
  2. Hold the Swap and A buttons at the same time until the Cable button blinks twice.

    Note: The Swap button is at the bottom of the remote in the Picture–in–Picture section.
     
  3. Release both buttons.

Motorola cable receiver:

  1. Press and release the Cable button
  2. Hold the Swap and B buttons at the same time until the Cable button blinks twice.

    Note: The Swap button is at the bottom of the remote in the Picture–in–Picture section.
     
  3. Release both buttons.
