Signing in to Cox Hotspots

Solution

Follow the steps below to sign in to the Cox Hotspots or the CableWiFi network.

If you are a... Then...
Cox Internet customer in a Cox service area
  1. Enable WiFi on your wireless device and search for available networks.
  2. In your list of available networks, select CoxWiFi or CoxWiFi_premium.
  3. Launch your Internet browser.
  4. Sign in with your Cox User ID and Password.

    Note: The Cox User ID is the same as the one you use to sign in to My Account at Cox.com.
Cox customer in a partnering provider's service area
  1. Enable WiFi on your wireless device and search for available networks.
  2. In your list of available networks, select CableWiFi.
  3. Launch your Internet browser.
  4. Select your Internet provider from the list.
  5. Sign in with your Cox User ID and Password.

  1. Enable WiFi on your wireless device and search for available networks.
  2. In your list of available networks, select CableWiFi.
  3. Launch your Internet browser.
  4. Select your Internet provider from the list.
  5. Sign in with your Username and Password.
Cox Business customer but do not have a user ID and password Refer to Managing Cox Hotspot Users in MyAccount.
Anyone in Cox service area who wants to connect to a Cox WiFi network as a StraightUp Internet Hotspot Pass user
  1. Enable WiFi on your wireless device and search for available networks.
  2. In your list of available networks, select CoxWiFi.
  3. From the Cox Hotspots Log In pop-up window, select Not a Cox Customer.
  4. From the StraightUp Internet Hotspot Pass window, complete the following steps.
    1. Select the pass option you prefer.
      • 2 Hour Pass - $4
      • 24 Hour Pass - $8
      • 1 Week Pass - $20

        Note: Hotspot passes are enabled for a single device.

    2. In the Enter email address field, enter the email address where you want to receive your receipt.
    3. Review the Purchase Summary section, then click to review each of the following.
      • Privacy Policy
      • WiFi Terms of Service
      • Acceptable Use Policy
    4. Place a check in the box to agree to the terms and conditions.
    5. Click Next.
  5. From the StraightUp Internet Hotspot Pass Billing Information window, complete all fields, then click Submit.

    Result: The Transaction Details window displays your pass details and an email receipt is sent to the email address you entered. You are now able to use this device to connect to Cox WiFi automatically for the duration of your pass.

  1. A Cox User ID and Password is necessary to access Cox Hotspots. Do you have a Cox User ID and Password set up?
    • For new customers or customers without an established Cox Identity, you'll need to register your account on Cox.com. Refer to Register Your Cox.com Account.
    • For existing customers with a Cox User ID and Password, continue to the next step.

      Note: If you do not remember your User ID or Password, or experience an issue signing in, see Recover Your Cox User ID or Reset Your Cox Password.

  2. Enable WiFi on your wireless device and search for available networks.
  3. In your list of available networks, select CoxWiFi or CoxWiFi_premium.
  4. Launch your Internet browser.
  5. Sign in with your Cox User ID and Password.

Connecting Devices

Due to the numerous WiFi devices and configurations available, Cox is only able to confirm that Cox Hotspots service is functioning correctly. Cox does not offer technical support for connecting devices to the internet. For additional assistance using your device, refer to the device user manual or support website.

Apple iOS
  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. If Wi-Fi is set to OFF, tap the OFF button to turn it on.

    Result: Your device searches for available Wi-Fi networks in range.
  3. Tap CoxWiFi / CoxWiFi_premium / CableWiFi from the list of available networks (SSIDs).

    Result: A check mark will appear next to the selected SSID.
  4. Launch your Internet browser.
  5. Sign in with your Username and Password.
Android
  1. Touch the Settings icon.
  2. Touch Wireless networks and / or Wi-Fi.
  3. If turned off, touch Wi-Fi to turn it on.

    Note: These settings may vary between different manufacturers and Android versions. We recommend you refer to your owner’s manual for exact steps.
  1. Tap Scan to search for available networks.
  2. Tap CoxWiFi / CoxWiFi_premium / CableWiFi from list of available networks.
  3. Launch your Internet browser.
  4. Sign in with your Username and Password.
Kindle Fire
  1. Tap Quick Settings or Wireless.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. If Wi-Fi is set to OFF, tap ON to turn it on.
  1. Tap Quick Settings or Wireless.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
    Result: A list of available networks displays.
  3. Tap CoxWiFi / CoxWiFi_premium / CableWiFi from the list of available networks (SSIDs).
  4. Launch your Internet browser.
  5. Sign in with your Username and Password.
Mac OS X

AirPort is used on Macs to set up and manage Wi-Fi connections. The AirPort icon is found in the menu bar next to the clock.

If the icon is empty, Airport is turned off, or you are not within Wi-Fi range. If the icon is filled in, you are currently within Wi-Fi range.

To turn AirPort on:

  1. Click the AirPort icon.
  2. Select Turn AirPort On.
  1. Click the AirPort icon.
  2. Select CoxWiFi / CoxWiFi_premium / CableWiFi from the list of available networks (SSIDs).
    Result: Once connected, a check mark will appear in the AirPort menu next to the selected SSID.
  3. Launch your Internet browser.
  4. Sign in with your Username and Password.
Windows 10
  1. From the App list, tap Settings.
  2. Click Network & Internet.
  3. Click Wi-Fi.
  4. Make sure Wi-Fi networking is set to On.
  1. From the System Tray, click the Network icon.
  2. Select CoxWiFi / CoxWiFi_premium / CableWiFi from the list of available networks (SSIDs).
  3. Click Next.
  4. Launch your Internet browser.
  5. Sign in with your Username and Password.
