Setting Up Music On Hold

Solution

This Cox Business MyAccount view is for all customers except for the pilot in Las Vegas.

Music On Hold plays music for callers on hold and is available with the VoiceManager Anywhere, Enhanced packages, Unlimited packages, and IP Centrex service. This feature can be used with Call Park, Call Waiting, Call Hold, and Busy Lamp.
 

Use the steps below to configure Music On Hold.

Go to myaccount-business.cox.com, enter your User ID and Password, and then click Sign In.
 

Note: If you have not created a MyAccount profile with a User ID and Password, see Setting Up Your MyAccount Profile.

From the Administrative Tools and Service Management section, click the Voice icon.

Do you have more than one account?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then from the Select an account drop-down menu, select the account to modify.

Are you a Profile Administrator or a Profile Owner changing a user's number?

  • If yes, then continue to the next step.
  • If no, then proceed to step 6 for changing your settings.

Click the arrow to expand the User & System Management section and complete the following.

  1. Click User Feature Settings.

  2. Locate the number you are modifying and click Edit.

Click the arrow to expand the Call Settings menu, and click the Music On Hold link.

Are you a Profile Administrator or a Profile Owner?

  • If yes and not managing your user settings, then continue to the next step.
  • If no or you are managing your user settings, then from the Music On Hold page, refer to the following steps to activate or deactivate your hold music.
    1. From the Music On Hold Personal Settings section, click the On or Off button.
    2. Click Save.
    3. All steps complete.

From the Music On Hold page, refer to the following table to add, edit, or delete the settings.

Add account

Note: You can add rules for individual accounts that are separate from the group rules.
From the Music On Hold Rules section, complete the following.
  1. Click the Add Music On Hold Rule link.
  2. From the Music On Hold Rule page, click the Account drop-down and click to select the account number.
  3. Continue to the next step.
Edit

Note: You can edit account and group rules.
From the Music On Hold Rules section, complete the following.
  1. Locate the Account you are deleting.

    Note: If there is not an account listed then refer to the add account information.

  2. From the Manage column, click Edit.
  3. Continue to the next step.
Delete

Note: You can only delete account rules and once deleted the account will follow the existing group rules if established.
From the Music On Hold Rules section, complete the following.
  1. Locate the Account or Group you are modifying.
  2. From the Manage column, click Delete.
  3. All steps complete.

From the Music On Hold Rule section, refer to the following table to modify the group or account settings.

Turn On and OffFrom the Music On Hold option, complete the following.
  1. Click to select the On or Off button.
  2. Click Save and Return.
Music Type - DefaultFrom the Music Type option, complete the following.
  1. Click to select the System Default Music button.
  2. Click Save and Return.
Custom Music TypeFrom the Music Type option, complete the following.
  1. Click to select Custom.
  2. Click the Select Audio or Change Audio link.
  3. Click Choose File to locate your audio file.
  4. Click the checkbox to accept the disclaimer.
  5. Click Continue.

    Result: The Music On Hold window appears.

  6. Click Save and Return.
Music for Internal and ExternalFrom the Internal_Calls option, complete the following.
  1. Click the Use Alternate Source for Internal Calls checkbox.
  2. Select your Music Type by clicking to select the System Default Music or the Custom button.

    Note: If you select Custom, refer to the Custom Music Type row for additional steps.

  3. Click Save and Return.
Enable Music DuringFrom the Enable Music During option, click to select any of the following.
  • Call Hold - Enables a user to place a call on hold, and only that user can pick up the call again.
  • Call Park enables a user to park a call on hold, then using an extension code, pick up the parked call from any phone.
  • Busy Lamp enables a user to see when designated users are engaged in a telephone call.
Note: Click Save and Return to confirm your selections.
