Recovering Your Online User ID

Solution

Complete the following steps to recover your online User ID.
 

Note: You must be enrolled in online User ID recovery to perform this process. For more information, see Adding Recovery Methods Online.

Go to myaccount-business.cox.com and then click the User ID link.

From the Forgot my Cox User ID page, select one of the following methods for recovering your User ID.

  • Text Message
  • Voice Call
  • Email Address

Complete the steps in the table below based on the recovery method selected.
 

If you selected... Then...
Text Message
  1. From the Look Up Your Account By Phone Number window, in the Mobile Phone Number field, enter the cell phone number used for recovery enrollment and then click Text me.

    Result:
    An automated text message from 26898 is sent with a verification code.

    Note:
    To recover your User ID using another method, click Choose Another Method. For additional assistance, reply to the text with the word AGENT.

  2. From the Verify your mobile number window, in the Code field, enter the verification code and then click Confirm.

Voice Call
    1. From the Look Up Your Account By Phone Number window, in the Phone number field, enter the telephone number used for recovery enrollment and then click Call me.

      Result:
      A voice call is received with a verification code.

Note:
      To recover your User ID using another method, click
Choose Another Method
      .


  1. From the Verify your phone number window, in the Code field, enter the verification code and then click Confirm.

Email Address
  1. From the Enter the Email Address on Your Account window, in the Email Address field, enter the email address used for recovery enrollment and then click Continue.

    Result:
    An email is sent from MyNotificationQA@cox.com with a verification code.

    Notes:
    • If the email does not appear in your inbox after a few minutes, be sure to check your junk or spam folder.
    • To recover your User ID using another method, click Choose Another Method.

  2. From the Verify your email address window, in the Code field, enter the verification code and then click Continue.

Perform the actions in the table below based on the message displayed.
 

If the verification code... Then...
Was entered successfully The Your Cox Business User ID window displays with your Cox User ID.

Make note of the User ID or click Copy to clipboard and then click Sign In.
Was entered incorrectly The following error message displays.

Re-enter the verification code and click Continue again. If needed, click the Resend Code link to receive a new verification code and then repeat step 3.
Has expired The following error message displays.

Verification codes expire in five minutes. Click the Resend Code link to receive a new verification code and then repeat step 3.
