Quick Steps to Start Using Online Backup

Solution

To install Cox Business Online Backup (CBOB), you must have a Cox Business MyAccount Profile. If you do not have MyAccount set up, chat with us at coxbusiness.com/chat or call Customer Support at 866-272-5777.

Accessing MyAccount for the First Time

A welcome email from myaccount@coxbusiness.com is sent to you before your installation date. This email contains your username and password. If you do not see an email with this sender’s name, check your spam folder and add “@coxbusiness.com” to your email safe sender list.

  1. Click https://myaccount.coxbusiness.com to access the application and enter the username and temporary password provided to you in the email to sign in.
  2. Click the Sign In button.

    Result: You may be prompted to change your password. Follow the steps in the section below.

Changing Your Password

Once you have successfully logged onto the Cox Business MyAccount portal, you may be asked to change your password. Your new password must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 8 - 24 alphanumeric characters
  • Must include at least one letter and one number
  • May include punctuation symbols
  • Cannot be the word or form the word “password"
  • Cannot be your username

Use the following steps to change your password.

  1. Click the Change Password link located at the top of the page under your login name.
  2. Enter the current or default password in the Current Password section.
  3. Enter the new password in the New Password section.
  4. Re-enter the new password in the Confirm New Password section.
  5. Click the OK link.

    Result: You have now successfully logged in and can navigate MyAccount.

Logging into CBOB

CBOB is a secure and reliable backup solution for your business needs. Through the easy-to-use client interface, you can customize your file selection and backup scheduling.

CBOB saves 90 days of data history for each file you back up. Therefore, in the event that you need to restore files, perhaps as a result of a computer failure, you can recover your data quickly through the client.

Complete the following steps to access the Online Backup menu. in CBOB.

  1. To access CBOB, log into MyAccount.
  2. Navigate to the My Services section and click the Internet tab.
  3. Click the Online Backup icon.

    Result: The Online Backup Dashboard displays.

Assign Backup Space

Complete the following steps to assign backup space.

  1. From the Assign Backup Space step, in the Operating System drop-down menu, select your operating system.
  2. From the Assign Space field, enter the desired backup space.
  3. Click the Add New User button to assign additional backup space for different users.
  4. Click Next Step and accept the Software License Agreement and Terms of Use to install the software.

Online Backup Dashboard

To manage your online backup information you may need to clear your cookies and cache. For web browser specific steps on clearing your cookies and cache, select from the following.

  • Chrome
  • Internet Explorer

The Online Backup Dashboard is the main page of the application. From the dashboard you may access the system functions including downloading the application, adding a user, viewing a summary of your backup usage, and more. To learn more, view the Cox Business Online Backup User Guides.

Note: To set-up a backup for another user, you must log in as that user to have the correct license key and profile ID.

In the lower right corner, click the Download button.

Result: The installation wizard displays and prompts you through the installation process.
