Pairing or Unpairing the Contour Remote

Solution

Follow the steps below to pair your Cox remote to a Contour receiver. Each remote is programmed to a specific receiver. To control a different one, first unpair the remote, then pair it to the chosen receiver.

Note: The remote may attempt to pair with other compatible receivers within 50 feet. Each press of the Contour Menu button tells the remote to change receivers.

Pair Remote

Confirm the remote has functioning batteries installed. To check the battery life press the microphone button on the remote and say, "Battery" or you can navigate to Settings/Remote Settings using the remote. If necessary replace low batteries.

Confirm your TV is on and set to the input for the Contour receiver.

Confirm your receiver is on.

Use one of the methods below to access the programming menu. Perform one of the following based on the type of remote. Refer to Remote Control User Guides to identify your remote.

  2. Press the Voice Command button to begin programming the remote.
  3. Follow the instructions displayed on the TV, enter the three-digit code, then follow the remaining on-screen instructions to set up power, volume, and input control for your TV.

    Result: The receiver and remote are paired.

  1. Press and hold the Contour and Info (i) buttons together on the remote until the red LED on the remote turns green.
  2. Follow the instructions displayed on the TV, enter the three-digit code, then follow the remaining on-screen instructions to set up power, volume, and input control for your TV.

    Result: The receiver and remote are paired.

Contour Voice Remote / Contour Remote

  1. For the Contour Voice Remote XR11 or Contour Remote XR5, press and hold the Setup button on the remote until the red LED on the remote turns green.
  2. Press the Contour Menu button. The LED on the remote flashes.
  3. Follow the instructions displayed on the TV, enter the three-digit code, then follow the remaining on-screen instructions to set up power, volume, and input control for your TV.

    Result: The receiver and remote are paired.

Unpairing Your Remote

Follow the steps below to unpair your Cox remote based on the type of remote. Refer to Remote Control User Guides to identify your remote. When unpaired, voice control won’t work and the remote must be pointed directly at the front of the receiver.

  1. Press and hold the A and D buttons together on the remote until the red LED on the remote turns green.
  2. Enter 9-8-1.

    Result: The LED blinks green twice and the remote is no longer paired with the receiver.

  1. For the Contour Voice Remote XR11 or Contour Remote XR5, press and hold the Setup button, in the lower left corner of the remote, until the red LED on the remote turns green.
  2. Enter 9-8-1.

    Result: The LED blinks green twice and the remote is no longer paired with the receiver.
