Managing Security Zones With the Detection Mobile App


To update your Cox Business Security mobile app, see Download and Install the Detection Mobile App.

From your Cox Business Security Solutions detection mobile app, you can view the state of each of your security zones, bypass a zone, or change the name of a zone. Review the information below for the instructions to manage your security zones.

Follow the steps below to view the current status of each zone or bypass one or more zones.


Sign in to the detection mobile app.


From the Overview screen, tap More.

Tap Manage Devices, then tap to select the device you want to view.

Note: To bypass a zone, toggle the Use Device button to on or off. You will need to bypass a zone each time you arm your system. Zones that are bypassed display on the Overview screen. The Sensors Not Used button displays all sensors that are ignored during the arming process.


From the Security Sensors screen, tap to select the device you want edit.

  1. Tap the Device Name field and enter the new device name.

    Note: The maximum length for a device name is 31 characters. Any name exceeding 31 characters may not display in full to the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) when an alarm or event is triggered. 

  2. Tap Done.
