Configuring an Internet Gateway with MalBlock DNS Security

Solution

The Technicolor and Cisco administrative portals allow you to configure the settings of your Cox-provided Internet Gateway. It is recommended that you change the default password the first time it is used.

Open a web browser and enter https://192.168.0.1.

Note: To access the administrative portal, use a computer or device that is connected to your Gateway.

Enter your Username and Password.

Note: If this is your first time accessing the administrative portal, then leave the username and password fields blank.

Click the Administration tab.

Click the User tab.

Complete the following fields.

  • Change Current Username to: Enter the new Username
  • Change Password to: Enter the new Password
  • Re-enter New Password

Click the Save button.

Use the table below to update the MalBlock DNS settings for Technicolor CGA4131, CGA4332, Cisco DPC3829, and Cisco DPC3848 modems.
 

If... Then...
Technicolor CGA4131 or
Technicolor CGA4332 modem
  1. From the modem's Graphical-User Interface (GUI), select the Connection tab.
  2. Click the WAN tab.
  3. From the Working Mode drop-down, ensure Router Mode is selected.
  4. From the Connection Mode drop-down enter the DNS for MalBlock.
  • Primary DNS: 72.200.254.11
  • Secondary DNS: 72.200.255.11
Note: The MTU size can be left at the default value.
Cisco DPC3829 or
Cisco DPC3848 modems

From the modem's Graphical-User Interface (GUI), select the Administration tab.
Click the Management tab.

  1. From the Working Mode drop-down, ensure Router Mode is selected.
  2. From the Connection Mode drop-down enter the following.
  • Primary DNS:72.200.254.11
  • Secondary DNS: 72.200.255.11
Note: The MTU size can be left at the default value.

Scroll to the bottom of the page, click Save to complete the configuration.
