Changing Your Voice Mail PIN


There are two ways to change your voicemail PIN, either in MyAccount or over the phone using the voicemail system. When signing into MyAccount to change your PIN, you aren't required to know your existing PIN; however, when changing it over the phone, you will be required to enter your existing PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN, then use the MyAccount steps below.

Note: Your voicemail must be set up before you can change your PIN. See Setting up Voice Mail for more information.

MyAccount Steps

Use the steps below to change an existing PIN or reset a forgotten PIN.

Note: If you can't access your business account in MyAccount, contact your administrator to change your voicemail PIN.


Go to myaccount-business.cox.com, enter your User ID and Password, and then click Sign In.

Note: If you have not created a MyAccount profile with a User ID and Password, see Setting Up Your MyAccount Profile.


From the Quick Links at the top of the page, click Voicemail.

Note: If you don't see the Voicemail link, confirm the phone number is assigned to you and that you have the correct permissions. Refer to Managing Phone Number Assignments in MyAccount and Managing Cox Business Users Online.


Do you have more than one account?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then from the Select an account drop-down menu, select the account to modify.

From the Voice Mail Tools page, click Mailbox PIN Code.


From the Voice Mailbox PIN Code window, complete the following steps.

  1. In the New Voice Mailbox PIN field, enter a four to eight-digit number.
  2. In the Confirm New Voice Mailbox PIN field, re-enter the PIN.
  3. Click Save.

Voice Mail System Steps

Use the steps below using the appropriate service number.

Note: The following process requires you to know the existing PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN, use the MyAccount steps above.


On your telephone, press the envelope button or dial *298.


Press 4 to access the Personal Options menu.


Press 3 to access the Personal Preferences menu.


Press 1 to enter a new PIN.


Enter a new four to eight-digit PIN and then press #.
