Changing the Duress Code on Your Detection Touchscreen

Solution

Use the duress four-digit code if an intruder forces you to disarm your system or access your security settings. In this situation, you would enter the duress code on the touchscreen rather than your regular four-digit code and the panel will appear to disarm. Entering your duress code gives you full access to your detection system, but a silent alarm is immediately sent to the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) and the police are dispatched immediately. The duress code should be shared with all trusted employees and make sure they know how it works.


Follow the steps below to change the duress code on the Cox Business Security Solutions touchscreen.

From the touchscreen homepage, tap the top bar to view the touchscreen menu.

On the touchscreen menu, tap SETTINGS.

On the settings menu, tap ADVANCED SETTINGS.

To gain access to the ADVANCED SETTINGS menu, enter your four-digit user code on the number pad.

Note: Only security users with Panel Master Access may gain entry to Advanced Settings. If you have Guest or User access, an Invalid user code error displays.

On the ADVANCED SETTINGS menu, tap USER MANAGEMENT.

On the USER MANAGEMENT screen, scroll to view ID 240 named as Duress. Tap the edit icon.

From the Edit screen, complete the following steps.

  1. User Code: Change the four-digit duress code.
  2. Confirm User Code: Re-enter the four-digit duress code.
  3. Tap SAVE to update changes.
