Back Up and Upload a Gateway Configuration File Online

Solution

Use the following steps to save your Internet Gateway settings for future use.

  • Any time you make changes to your gateway settings, save and then upload the configuration file. Three configuration files can be saved.
  • The following settings are saved in a configuration file backup.
    • Account Number
    • Gateway Name/Guest WiFi Name
    • Admin Username
    • Admin Password
    • Wireless Network Name (SSID)
    • Wireless Security Mode
    • Network Password (Pre-Shared Key)
    • Local IP Address of Router
    • Cox Static IP Address
    • IP Address Range
    • Subnet Mask
    • Default Gateway
    • Notes

In the web browser address bar, enter the gateway admin portal IP address 192.168.0.1 and press Enter.

  1. Sign in using your admin portal Username and Password.
  2. Select the Administration tab.
  3. Select the Backup & Restore tab.
  4. Click one of the following buttons based on your gateway model.
    • For the Technicolor CGA4131 or CGA4332, click Back Up.
    • For the Technicolor (formerly Cisco) DPC3848 or DPC3829, click Save Current Configuration.

Result: The file either automatically downloads or you are prompted for the location to save the file. If prompted, then the desktop is useful for temporarily saving the backup.

Go to myaccount-business.cox.com, enter your User ID and Password, and then click Sign In.
 

Note: If you have not created an online profile with a User ID and Password, refer to Setting Up Your Online Profile.

From the Services section, click the Internet icon.

From the Business Internet page, click the Internet Gateway icon.

In the Internet Gateway window, select Gateway / Guest WiFi Reference Info, then click Next.

On the Internet Gateway Settings window, in the Select a Device drop-down menu, select the device you want to restore to a previous configuration file.

At the bottom of the Internet Gateway Settings window, in the Configuration Files section, click Upload. Follow the prompts to run the configuration file.
 

Result: The internet gateway settings saved in the configuration file are uploaded for future use, such as during troubleshooting or when installing a new gateway.
