After the modem is successfully connected to the network, the Power, Receive, Send, and Online indicators continuously indicate that the modem is online and fully operational.

The following ports are available on the back of the modem.

  • Ethernet - Two Ethernet ports for RJ-45 network cable connections. 
    • Green LED indicates a GigE data connection is made.
    • Amber LED indicates a 10/100 Mbps data connection is made.
       

      Only one gigabit Ethernet port can be used at a time. Therefore, a second device plugged into the modem will not receive Internet access.
       

  • Reset - Recessed button located on the back of your SB8200 can be used to either
    reboot the cable modem or reset the cable modem configuration settings.
  • Cable / Internet - Connect your coaxial cable line to this port.
  • Power - Connect the supplied power cord to this port.
     

MAC Address

MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F).

  • A MAC address is unique.
  • The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the device's manufacturer.
  • This information is usually found on a sticker at the bottom of the modem.

Troubleshooting

The lights indicate the current status of your gateway. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

Off No power. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None
RECEIVE

Receiving
Flashing Scanning for a downstream channel. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None. The downstream channel is connected in DOCSIS 3.0 mode.
Solid Blue None. The downstream channels are connected in DOCSIS 3.1 mode.
SEND

Send
Off The upstream channel is inactive. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Flashing Scanning for the upstream channel. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid Green None. The upstream channel is connected in DOCSIS 3.0 mode.
Solid Blue None. The upstream channels are connected in DOCSIS 3.1 mode.
ONLINE

online
Off No connection. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Flashing None - scanning for configuration parameters
Solid Green None - operational
