Cox Communications and Connect2Compete

For students and parents, having a computer and Internet service at home is no longer a luxury—it’s essential. Cox® understands this new reality and, through our partnership with EveryoneOn, works in the communities we serve to provide low-cost Internet and devices to low-income students and their families through the Cox® Connect2Compete program.

Our Partners

To further support broadband equity, Cox collaborates with the American Library Association to provide online resources and digital training. This partnership is the first step of the Cox® Digital Academy, which offers additional tools and resources to help students and their families leverage opportunities through the Internet.

In addition, Cox has partnered with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support its ConnectHome initiative. Families with K-12 children who live in Public Housing, as well as K-12 families who receive Tenant-Based Vouchers, Project-Based Vouchers or Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) are eligible for the Cox® Connect2Compete discounted Internet service offer.

Common Sense Media helps families make smart media choices by offering independent advice on parenting, media, and everything in between. From tips on popular apps and games to advice for first-time technology users, Common Sense Media is the trusted source for parents and caregivers when it comes to raising kids in the digital age.

EVERFI is the education technology innovator that empowers K-12, higher education, and adult learners with the skills needed to be successful in life. Its comprehensive critical skills platform is focused on Financial Education, Digital Citizenship, STEM Career Readiness, Diversity and Inclusion, Entrepreneurship, Character Education, and Health and Wellness. The EVERFI Education Network powers more than 4,200 partners in their education initiatives across all 50 states and Canada. Learn more at EVERFI.com

The Cox® Connect2Compete Internet offer is open to families with K-12 children who qualify for:

  • The National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Public Housing / HUD-assisted Housing

Since beginning the program in 2012, more than a quarter-million individuals have been connected to the Internet through Cox® Connect2Compete—most of them for the very first time. We’re excited about this progress, but know more work can be done. We’ll continue to be committed to investing in programs and partnerships that will ensure all students have access to the tools and technology they need to succeed in the classroom and their careers.
