Why would I switch to Cox Digital Telephone?

In fact, Cox ranked high-test in overall telephone customer satisfaction in J.D. Power and Associates 2006 residential telephone study in the West, Northeast and Southwest. By bundling three Cox services together, you can save on Cox Digital Telephone, Cox Digital Cable and Cox High Speed Internet. Plus, switching is simple. No need to change your existing number or phones.

Where is Cox Digital Telephone service available?
Cox Digital Telephone is available in all Cox markets. Cox will continue to expand its telephone service footprint in the communities it serves in early 2007. Today, more than 1.9 million households and 150,000 businesses rely on Cox Digital Telephone for quality and reliable telephone service.

What are Cox's long distance rates?
Cox offers very competitive long distance rates and packages. Our various long distance packages are geared to fit with your calling habits and provide different rates to save you money overall. Please review our pricing pages for details.

Is Cox Digital Telephone the same thing as “Internet Telephone”?
No, Cox does not transport phone calls through the public Internet. Rather, in some markets, Cox uses Internet Protocol technology to transport phone calls over a private, managed IP-based data network. With this architecture, a broadband connection is not required for Cox telephone service.

Will my house need to be rewired?
No, the existing wiring inside your home will operate just as it always has. Cox will install an additional device either on the outside of your home where the current wiring connection is or inside your home near your computer or another inconspicuous place.

Will my current telephones work?
Yes.

Will my phone service work with monitored home security systems?
Yes.

If my cable goes out, will my phone go out too?
No. Cable outages may not affect the telephone lines. Further, Cox's state-of-the-art, Network Operations Center monitors the network 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week. In addition, when a neighborhood or individual house experiences an electrical outage, Cox’s back-up powering will keep your phone working.

If my cable goes out, will my alarm system go out too?
No. Cox Digital Telephone provides many redundancy points in its network or battery back-up at the home to continue providing dial tone, even when your cable goes out or you lose house power. In addition, Cox’s network design ensures that customer’s alarm network will not be triggered during any planned maintenance periods. Cox has been installing Cox Digital Telephone in homes with alarm systems for nearly a decade. Our field technicians are skilled at installing Cox Digital Telephone and ensuring compatibility with home security systems.
