Phishing and Pharming are two common techniques used to steal personal information, such as user names, passwords, credit card and account numbers.
Phishing is an e-mail that “fishes” for personal information by impersonating a legitimate brand. A
phishing e-mail imitates the look of a popular brand, often including the company logo, and often asks you to verify account numbers, passwords or credit card information.
Pharming is a temporary web site that impersonates a legitimate brand. A
pharming web site can be reached unintentionally when trying to access a legitimate site, and often asks for you to enter your username and password, account information or credit card number.
