Frequently Asked Questions

What if my email address changes?

If your email address changes, simply log in to cox.com using your last email address and then select the Login Settings > Change login link to the left of the screen and update your email address.

Is the log in secure?

Yes. In addition to providing your email address, you must accurately type in your password to access your account. Also, if you have shared your password and want to prevent anyone from changing it to lock you out, go to the Login Settings > Change login link on the left of the screen and set up the secret question/secret answer key. That way, only you can access and change the password.

What if I forget my password?

Click on the 'forgot password' link in the Customer Login box to reset your password. Enter the email address and associated Cox account number to have a new password sent to your email Inbox. If you have more than one Cox account number, you may use any of the account numbers you've associated with your email address. If you previously set up the secret question/secret answer key, then you can view and change your password. Otherwise, email or call your Cox customer service representative to reset your password, and then create secret question/secret answer key for future reference.

Checking your balance and recent activity

After you log in and select your account number, you can view your current balance, recent activity, and your next payment due date. Common terms include the following:

  • Statement balance: the balance that appeared on your last Cox bill statement.
  • Current balance: your statement balance minus any payments or credits made since your last bill statement. It may require up to 36 hours for payments to be reflected in your current balance.
  • Total applied payments: reflects the total payments applied since your last bill statement. It does not reflect credits.
  • Recent activity: shows detailed information on any payments or credits applied to your account.

Email Bill Reminder

What is the monthly email bill reminder?

Once a month, you will receive an email reminding you that your online bill has been updated to reflect your next payment. The email also includes a link to log into the Cox.com site and a partially masked Cox account number (e.g. xxx xxxx 1234567xx) for reference purposes.

How can you sign up for a monthly email bill reminder?
  1. On Cox.com, click on View/Pay Bill.
  2. Log in (or create a log in by setting up a password).
  3. Click on the Stop paper bill link and check the Email bill reminder box.

What is my bill cycle and where do I find it?

Your bill cycle refers to the date your billing period ends each month. This date appears on your bill statement in several places. On the first page of your bill statement, it appears as "Current charges as of." It also appears in each detail section of your bill as "Monthly service from ____to ____."

Will I still receive a paper bill statement?

Yes. Unless you sign up for Stop paper bill.

Will I receive marketing emails from Cox by opting in for this email reminder service?

You will receive email reminders when your online bill is ready (or service-related emails about events that may impact your receipt of the monthly reminders), as part of this program. Because of your relationship with Cox, however, you may receive highly relevant service-related or special offer-related messages as well. If at any time you do not wish to receive these types of emails, you will be given the opportunity to remove your email address from our marketing list by clicking the "unsubscribe" link that appears at the bottom of our marketing email messages. Opting out of the marketing emails will not interfere with your ability to receive your online bill monthly email reminders.

How will I recognize my monthly email reminder as being from Cox?

You will recognize your monthly reminders by the email From address - CoxCom.Services@cox.com - and the Subject line, "Your Cox bill is ready on www.cox.com ."

What if I decide that I do not want to continue receiving my monthly email reminders?

If you wish to discontinue receiving your monthly email reminders, you will be able to turn off this service by logging into the View / Pay Bill area on www.cox.com, selecting the Stop paper bill link, and removing the check from the Email bill reminder box.

Will Cox share or sell my email address to third parties?

Cox will not share or sell the email addresses of its customers to any unaffiliated third parties. If you have opted in to receive special offer email communications through one of our marketing programs, or if you are a Cox High Speed Internet customer, Cox may send messages containing special offers in partnership with a third party. However, these messages would only feature selected, value-added benefits that are relevant to Cox Communications customers.

Stopping your paper bill

  1. On Cox.com, click on View / Pay Bill.
  2. Log in (or set up your password if needed).
  3. Click on the Stop paper bill link to the left of your screen.
  4. If you receive separate statements for separate Cox services, such as High Speed Internet or Digital Telephone, you may choose to stop any or all of your Cox paper bills.

When you stop your paper bill:

  • Any required notices that are normally mailed with your printed bill statement, such as pricing, channel changes, and privacy notices will also be emailed to you.
  • If your service is disconnected for any reason, Cox will automatically begin sending your paper bill statement again to ensure that you continue to receive up-to-date information about your account.

To start receiving your paper bill again

  • On Cox.com, click on View / Pay Bill.
  • Log in (or set up your password if needed).
  • Click on the Stop paper bill link to the left of your screen.
  • If you receive separate statements for separate Cox services, such as Cox High Speed Internet, Digital Telephone, and Cable service, you may choose to stop any or all of your Cox paper bills.

Can I sign up for stop paper bill over the phone?
Currently, you must sign up for Stop paper bill through our Cox.com web site to ensure valid entry of your email address. Also, signing up through Cox.com assures us that you have access to your bill online and have provided us with an email address for critical communications, such as government mandated regulatory notices and other announcements.

Why does Cox automatically restart the paper bill if a customer disconnects?
If services are disconnected, such as High Speed Internet service, then email may be undeliverable. Cox restarts the paper bill rather than relying on email.
