About Your Bill

Advance Billing

Cox Communications bills all customers in advance for monthly standard service charges and in arrears for usage-based charges such as On Demand/pay-per-view and long distance. Credits or charges for any service changes made during the month will be reflected in the next bill.

When to pay your bill

Payment in full is due to Cox by the “Due By” date indicated on your statement. If full payment is not received by this date your bill will become past due and may be subject to additional fees such as late payment charges, electronic reactivation fees, or returned check fees. Cox offers many convenient payment options for our customers – including access to 24/7 online and automated phone payments. click here for more information on all Payment Options. Most options are available to you at no charge. However, fees may apply for payments made over the phone with a Cox representative.

Billing Dispute & Resolution

If you have any questions regarding your bill or disagree with any portion of your bill, immediately contact Cox with your concerns. You must contact us no later than 60 days from the bill’s Due By date at (402) 933-3000 Mon. - Fri. 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sat. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by email.

To dispute the outcome related to your telephone service you may file a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission. For PUC contact information click here.

To dispute the outcome related to your cable service you may file a complaint with your local franchising authority. This address is printed on your Cox bill statement.

Late Payment Charge

Your bill is subject to a late fee if it is not paid within six days from the “Due By” date. A late fee of $3.50 will be assessed. If your bill is not paid within 25 days from the "Due By" date a late fee of $4.50 will be assessed.

Returned Payment Fee

A returned payment charge of $25.00 will be applied when any negotiable instrument presented for payment for service--including credit card, electronic payment or check--becomes dishonored and is returned to us by your financial institution.

Additional Deposits

If you pay your bill after the “Due By” date or have a payment returned by your financial institution, or you have a significant increase in usage-based charges, such as long distance, Cox may require a new or additional deposit. The deposit must be paid by cash, money order or credit card.

Partial Month Services

If you have recently added or removed services, a "partial month" charge or credit will appear on this statement. This charge or credit reflects the differences between your previous monthly rate and the new monthly rate from the date of the change in service to the end of the current billing cycle.

Reconnection of Service

If your services are disconnected for non-payment, you must pay the outstanding balance in full, a month of service in advance, and a charge to reconnect your service. You may also be required to pay a deposit prior to activation of service.

Collection Trip Fee

After "x" days, monies collected by Cox at your service address could be subject to an additional $25 collection fee, excluding telephone services.

How to Pay Your Bill

Online: Visit cox.com to register for 24-hour online access or make payments to your account.
Mail: Detach your payment coupon from the bottom of your bill statement and mail it with your check or money order to the address listed on the coupon. Please indicate your account number on your check. Make checks payable to Cox Communications. Allow 7 days for processing.

Cox Long Distance

Tarriff Questions

Your basic telephone services will not be disconnected for non-payment of non-basic telephone or non-telephone charges. Services, which must be paid to retain your local telephone services, are marked with an asterisk (*) on your bill. Failure to pay charges on the bill denoted by an asterisk (*) may result in the disconnection of your basic local telephone service.

Telephone Modem and Battery Back-up

If modem is disconnected or removed, or battery is not charged or otherwise fails, phone service, including access to emergency 911 services, will not be available.

FCC Authorized Charge for Network Access charge

A charge to recover costs associated with connecting to a telecommunications service provider’s interstate long distance network.

Emergency 911 Service charge

Your local government asks you to pay this charge each month to help provide for emergency service in your community.

Telecommunications Relay Service

A surcharge to fund the relay center that assists the hearing and speech impaired to communicate over the phone network.

Pay-Per-Call Charges

You may be billed for Interstate 900 calls that violate federal law. You may request blocking of 900 services. You may be blocked from callilng a 900 number for failure to pay legitimate 900 call charges and the information service provider may see collection of those charges.

Partial Payment

If you have Cox Digital Telephone service in addition to other Cox services, particial payments will first be applied to your telephone balance (both regulated and non-regulated) before being applied to your other Cox services.

If you disagree with the investigation’s outcome on a video service, you may file a complaint with the local franchise authority. The address is printed on your Cox bill statement.
