Setting NON-PPV Program Timers

You can use the program guide to set timers for programs you do not wish to miss. There are two types of non-PPV timers:

setting the alarm
  • Event timers: When set, it reminds you one minute before the program starts. Additionally, it automatically turns to the channel when your program starts.
  • VCR timer: If you want to record the program, it reminds you one minute before and then records the program using the VCR Controller.

You can set up a maximum of 8 non-PPV timers. Additionally, each timer offers you the option of setting the type of recurrence:

  • This Instance
  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monday through Friday
  • Saturday and Sunday

To set a timer for a future non-PPV program from the program guide

  • Press the GUIDE button.
  • The program guide displays.
  • Press the right, up or down arrow button to highlight the future program for which you want to set a timer.
  • Press the SELECT button.
  • You see the following display, indicating this is a future program.

Use the up or down arrow button to highlight a Set Event Timer or Set VCR Timer. Press the right arrow button to select one of the following options.

  • This instance: Only this particular instance has a timer set.
  • Daily: Monday - Sunday, each day at the time designated, the timer displays/records.
  • Weekly: Each week on the same day and time, the timer displays/records.
  • M-F: On Monday through Friday, the timer displays/records.
  • Sa-Su: On Saturday and Sunday, the timer displays/records.
  • Press the SELECT button.

One or more of the following may happen:

  • If your timer overlaps with an existing timer
  • you see the Timer Overlap Options display

Make any changes using the arrow buttons to highlight the program and adjust the status.

  • Press the SELECT button to continue.

If this program falls within the parental control parameters that you may have set, you are asked to provide your PIN. Using the keypad, enter the 4-digit PIN.

  • If you set a VCR timer, you see one of the following messages.
  • Press the SELECT button to continue.
  • If the program you have selected runs longer than six hours, you will see an alert informing you of this situation.
  • None of the above occurs, go to the next step.
  • The program guide shows the program in yellow with a timer symbol inside the grid with the program name.
  • Press the EXIT button to exit the program guide and return to the currently selected channel.


To suspend timers for a future non-PPV program from the program guide

Note: At any time during this procedure, you can elect to cancel this procedure by pressing the EXIT button. In that event, there are no changes to the timer.

  • Press the GUIDE button.
  • The program guide displays.
  • Press the arrow buttons to highlight the program timer to be suspended.
  • The program displays in the program guide, highlight in yellow with a timer symbol.
  • Press the SELECT button.
  • One of the following happens:
    • Passport Digital Cable Terminal displays the channel.
    • This means that this is not a future program, it is a current program.
  • One of the following displays appear if you have selected a non-PPV program with an existing timer. The example shows a display for a program that has an event timer set (on left) and a display for a program that has a VCR timer set (on right)
    • The Suspend Timer option is highlighted.
    • Press the SELECT button to accept the change.
    • The program guide displays with the program in yellow with the suspend symbol.
