Preference Definitions

Alarm:

The alarm permits you to select a time for turning on and/or off your settop. You can select this to occur once only or to recur on a combination of days.

Channel Banner:

This is a graphic that displays at the bottom of your TV screen. It shows program information for the currently tuned program. You can browse with the channel banner to display program information for programs and channels other than the one you are tuned to.

Settings menu:

The Settings menu allows you to set many preferences, such as parental control preferences, cable settop preferences, favorite channels, and skipped channels.

Sleep setting:

You can now set your settop to turn off automatically at a certain time interval.

New single or recurring event and VCR timers:

With one timer, you can now set your settop to alert you or record a single instance or multiple instances.

Program guide:

The program guide shows what is on television. You can also use it to select programs, to set timers, and to purchase Pay-Per-View (PPV) programs.

Parental control:

Parental control allows you to restrict what channels, ratings, titles and time periods your household members can watch.

PPV purchasing:

PPV purchasing allows you to purchase and watch PPV programs. You can also restrict purchasing with a PIN.

VCR control:

You can control your VCR from your settop so you can record programs either impulsively or using a timer. Note that this requires special hardware and setup.
