Your smart remote also turns the power on for both your TV and VCR. Together with the VCR Commander, it will also allow you to control some of your most often used VCR functions. It's easy to tell your remote to operate a different device once you've completed the VCR and TV Program Set-up.
All you'll need to do is press the button marked for that device at the top of the remote, then choose the key for the function you desire. The remote will "remember" which device you want to operate until you tell it differently.
For example: if you want to turn the VCR on and play a tape, simply turn on your VCR using the button in the Power Panel at the top of the remote, then use the remote keys to control the VCR.
Notice that the VCR function keys like Play, Stop, and Rewind are located at the bottom of your remote. When you're done using the VCR and want to return to watching digital TV, simply press the 
button at the top of the remote and return to normal
