How to Connect the 8000HD Set-top Box to an HDTV

IMPORTANT: Do not plug the 8000HD power cord into the power source until you have completed all connections between the 8000HD and other equipment.

  1. Connect one end of the coax cable to the wall outlet and the other end to the CABLE IN port of the 8000HD.
  2. Connect one end of the Y (green), Pb (blue), and Pr (red) cable into the corresponding ports on the back of the 8000HD. Plug the other end into the first available set of YPbPr video input ports on the back of the HDTV.

Note: If the HDTV has more than one set of YPbPr inputs, they will be numbered. The first set of YPbPr inputs will be labeled something like V1, Video 1, or Video Input 1. The second set will be labeled something like V2 or Video 2, and so on. This is important to know because the Cox remote control lets you switch conveniently between Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, etc. with the press of a button. This button on the remote is labeled INPUT or VIDEO SOURCE.

Note: If your HDTV ports are labeled YCbCr, connect the green plug into the Y port, the blue plug into the Cb port, and the red plug into the Cr port. If your HDTV ports are labeled RGB, contact us about an RGB adapter.

  1. Connect the one end of the red and white audio cable into the corresponding AUDIO OUT ports on the back of the 8000HD. Plug the other end of the cable into the corresponding AUDIO IN ports on the back of the HDTV.
  2. Connect one end of the 8000HD power cable into the 8000HD and the other end into a wall outlet or surge protector. Plug the HDTV into a power source.
