Big Changes to the Cox Cable/Digital Cable
Lineup
11-1-2005
Beginning December 7, 2005, Cox Digital
Cable will launch several new channels,
giving our customers even more diversity in
their channel lineup.
The Packages
The Variety package grows with the addition
of TV One, Shop At Home, PBS Kids Sprout
and LOGO. TV One
is a new network, programming primarily to
African-American adults, while Shop At
Home features well-known personalities
like Emeril, as well as hosts from popular
programs on DIY, HGTV and Food Network.
Sprout is a fresh new destination
devoted to preschool children and their
parents and caregivers. Rounding out the
Variety additions is LOGO,
developed by MTV and offering innovative originals,
movies, documentaries and specials that
reflect the diversity of the gay experience
and appeal to a broad range of gay and
non-gay viewers, friends and family. These
last two channels launch on December 28.
FitTV
is the latest addition to the Sports &
Information package, offering
entertaining programs that will motivate
viewers to reduce stress, create healthier
meals, and build an active lifestyle.
Paquete Latino, our Spanish-language
package, will feature mun2, a
bilingual channel targeting young Latinos,
Discovery Kids en Español and
Discovery Viajar y Vivir, the first
travel and lifestyle network that introduces
people to new ideas, places and experiences.
Special Additions
A la carte premium services expand with the
additions of QTN and GMA/Pinoy TV.
Q Television Network is a national
gay television network run by and programmed
for an audience that identifies itself as
gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and
straight. GMA/Pinoy TV is a 24-hour
international channel designed for all
Filipinos, which includes popular soap
operas and entertainment programs. Each
will be sold a la carte for $10.00 per
month.
TNT HD
joins the Cox High Definition Cable lineup,
offering native HD programming including
NBA, Nextel Cup Races, all original movies
and original series, select network
television premieres and select series.
Premiums Go All-Digital
Also on December 7, the premium channels -
HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz - will move
to a digital-only format. Today, more than
98% of our premium service customers already
subscribe to Cox Digital Cable and have
access to multiple premium channels and the
hundreds of other channels we offer through
digital cable. By moving analog channels to
digital, Cox frees up space to allow for the
addition of more HD channels and advanced
services. Considering how much can be done
with the extra channel space and since so
few premium service customers remain
“analog-only,” it makes sense to remove the
analog premiums.
Analog Lineups Get A Face Lift
In our continued efforts to have a
consistent lineup between North and South,
several channels will be moving in both
places. Customers were notified of this
change through a bill insert in their
November statements and a print ad which ran
on November 1 in the Union Tribune and North
County Times. For your reference, new
lineups are available on our website at
www.coxsandiego.com.
