Wiring Standards & Practices
Today, apartment and home dwellers can purchase and use a variety of consumer electronic devices (computers, DVD Players, intelligent appliances, etc), services, and applications to enhance their busy lives. In order to take full advantage of these applications, multi-dwelling units and single family homes must be wired appropriately. Cox Communications wiring standards and practices includes:
- All material must be new and of the best quality
- All labor shall be performed in a thorough and workmanlike manner
- No Cable run will be longer than 90 meters or 295 feet (check these specs- RG6 may be 235’)
- At least 18" of cable slack must be left at each outlet location
- Coaxial cables must be terminated at the outlet location
- All Coax will be RG-6 PVD Quad shield
- All UTP cable must be 100 MHz rates Cat5e compliant PVC cable – must be blue in color
- Interconnection devices must use only property installed rated T568B modular plugs/jacks
