| Cox is an active investor in the
communities we serve. Our commitment to the Roanoke Valley isn’t
just a slogan or a few words pulled from our vision statement,
it is something we believe in and act on each day. It's an
important part of our culture and who we are as a community.
Cable in the Classroom
[Official
Site]
Cox is proud to be a founding member of Cable in the Classroom,
a national initiative designed to improve education by providing
complimentary access to educational cable programming. Through
our commitment, private and public schools in our communities
receive a complimentary cable connection providing
commercial-free programming each month - all geared to provide
teachers with lively, curriculum-rich resources to inspire
learning. Our cable network partners reformat programming to
help make it teacher- and kid-friendly, as well as adaptable in
the classroom according to national standards.
United Way of
Roanoke Valley

Cox is a proud supporter of United Way of
Roanoke Valley through the annual Community Campaign. For 16
years now, Cox Roanoke employees have risen to the challenge of
positively impacting our community as participants in the United
Way campaign.
The 2007 Community Campaign raised $31,301 exceeding Cox’s
financial goal with an increase in almost 16% for employee
participation. $31,301 represents the contributions of Cox
employees in Roanoke with a matching gift from Cox. In order to
meet these goals, Cox employees rallied around a competitive
office-wide silent auction and indulged in a Krispy Kreme
doughnut sale in addition to conventional payroll deductions and
flat donations to the campaign.
The 2007 Community Campaign theme,
“Without you, there’s no way” served as a reminder that working
together yields greater results. Funds raised during the United
Way campaign will be invested in 2008 in health and human
service programs in Botetourt, Craig and Roanoke counties, and
Roanoke, Salem and Vinton. The United Way’s mission is to
improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of people in our
community.
