Usage Over Your Data Plan

If you exceed your data plan, your service is not interrupted except in the rare cases of excessive usage. In those extremely rare situations, Cox may suspend service after attempting to resolve the issue. See the Cox Online Privacy Policy and related terms and agreements for additional information.

Content managed by Cox included in the following Cox-provided services do not count toward data usage.

  • TV and On Demand content accessed in the Contour app while connected to Cox in-home WiFi
  • Cox Digital Telephone
  • Cox Homelife

Note: Third party content and content identified as Internet services on receivers or TVGO in the Contour app may count toward data usage.

Monitor Your Data Usage

Cox offers the Data Usage Meter to customers to monitor their daily, monthly, or historical data usage. You can see how much data you have used in your monthly usage cycle and the amount still available.

This meter has been tested for accuracy by Cox. Netforecast, an independent third party, has also provided an independent report (PDF) verifying accuracy. You can access the Data Usage Meter by logging into My Account or from the Cox Connect app. See Access and Use the Data Usage Meter or download the Cox Connect app to learn more.

Manage Data Usage

The amount of data you consume is largely determined by your Internet activities, not the amount of time you spend online. In most households, video streaming of movies and TV shows is the biggest driver of monthly online data use. To view estimates of how your Internet activities affect data usage, visit the Data Usage Calculator.
