Summary

Learn how to access, navigate, and watch programs using Cox TV Connect.

Solution

To use Cox TV Connect, you must:

  • Subscribe to any level of Internet higher than Starter and Cox TV service for TV Essential or higher.
  • Have a primary Cox.com user ID and password, a Wi-Fi home network with a DOCSIS modem, eMTA, or gateway.
  • Be using a supported mobile device. See About Cox TV Connect to view a list of supported devices.
  • Be in range of your home network to use the app.

How to Get Cox TV Connect


To access Cox TV Connect, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the Cox TV Connect app from the Apple App Store, iTunes, Google Play or Amazon.
  2. Once downloaded, sign in to the app using your primary Cox User ID and Password.

If you receive an error when signing in, refer to Troubleshooting Cox TV Connect.

How to Watch on Your Tablet


Once successfully signed in to the app, the Cox TV Connect main page displays a minimized view of a cable show currently airing, the program details, available channels, and the program guide.

Viewing Programs 


To view programs, simply tap the channel or the Watch Now button of the program. To view programs in a full portrait or landscape view, tap the screen of the program currently airing. The blue bar below displays. Tap the arrows button as shown below and turn the iPad to your desired view.

Exit Full View

To exit the full view, tap the screen of the program currently airing, and then tap the arrows button at the bottom of the screen. This will take you back to the main page of the Cox TV Connect app.
 

Closed Captioning 


Closed Captioning controls are available for the Live TV view. You can easily turn Closed Captioning on and off with a quick tap of the CC button next to the volume control, as shown below.
 

This feature is not available on Android devices.

How to Watch from Your iPhone and iPod Touch


Once successfully signed in to the app, the Cox TV Connect main page displays the available channels, and the TV TV Listings, as shown below.

Viewing Programs 


To view programs, simply scroll to the channel or program and tap the Watch Now button. To return to the guide, tap TV Listings button. You may need to tap the screen first for the TV Listings button to display.
 

For iPad and iPhone users, you also have the option to Tap Set TV Grid By in the top bar to sort by channel name or channel number.


Closed Captioning - Apple Devices Only


Closed Captioning controls are available for the Live TV view. You can easily turn Closed Captioning on and off within the Settings menu. 


Stop/Pause / Playback - iPhone / iPod Touch Only


You can stop the program currently airing and return to the TV Listings view to scroll to a different channel or filter programs via the Display menu. The pause feature will hold the video stream for 25 seconds. After that time, if you resume video, you will jump back to live TV.

The Cox TV Connect Program Guide


The Cox TV Connect Program Guide displays up to 14 days of TV program schedules and information, and allows you to filter programs by a specific date, or category such as Movies, Kids & Family, Sports, News, TV and MPAA Ratings. The following table provides details about the Cox TV Connect program guide and how to use features within the guide.  

What Channels are Available? 


The Cox TV Connect channel lineup consists of over 90 channels based on your location.
 

National cable TV programming is available in all markets. Some markets can also access local channels, broadcast networks, and regional networks. To see the channel offering for your area, see Cox TV Connect Channel Lineup.


The channels will display in alphabetical order by channel name for the Live TV view or numerical order by channel number for the TV Listings view.

Program Information


The default view of the guide will display programs by date and time. The guide can provide up to 14 days of program listings and information. You can scroll up and down, or left to right to select channels and/or view program details. 
 

To view program details for a specific show, as shown on the iPad below. Tap the title of the program.

On the iPad, to view the full program guide, tap the up arrow located to the right or left of the filter bar.
 

Note: To return to the main view, tap the down arrow.

Live TV and TV Listings - iPad only


At the bottom of the guide, there are two options to view program information, Live TV and TV Listings. 

  • The Live TV option allows you to view all live streaming Cox TV Connect channels.
  • The TV Listings option displays program schedules and information for the cable channels within your subscription. This option also displays filtered content based on your selections from the Highlight by menu. See Filter programs by Highlight by section below.

Filter Programs by Date & Time


The Date & Time filter allows you to view programs by a specific date and time. To view programs by date and time, complete the following steps:

  1. Tap the Date & Time button on the filter bar for iPad. Tap Display on the iPhone or iPod Touch.  
  2. Tap Select Date & Time.
  3. Scroll to appropriate date and time, as shown on the iPad below.
  4. Tap Done

Show Channels For iPad


You can select to view TV listings for All Channels or Available iPad Channels.

Note
: This option will not be available for customers who do not have a digital receiver or CableCARD.
 

  • All Channels displays TV listings for Cox TV Connect channels based on your location.
  • Available iPad Channels displays TV listing information for cable channels within your Cox TV subscription.

For iPhone and iPod Touch


On the iPhone, you can view All Channels, Live TV Connect Channels, or HD Channels by tapping the Display button from the TV Listings view. 

  • All Channels displays TV listings for Cox TV Connect channels based on your location.
  • Live TV Connect Channels displays TV listing information for cable channels within your Cox TV subscription.
  • HD Channels displays available HD channels.

Filter Programs by Using the Highlight Option


For iPad


The Highlight by option allows you to view programs by category such as Movies, Kids&Family, Sports, News, and TV and MPAA Ratings
 

Tap the Highlight by button and tap the type of programming you wish to view. The guide will highlight channels based on your selection (as shown below on the iPad).You can also tap Recent Highlights to view your last view three filtered searches.

From the Display menu, you can Highlight programs by category such as Movies, Kids & Family, Sports, News, and TV Ratings, as shown below.

Mini Program Guide - iPad Only


The mini guide allows you to change channels and view currently airing program listings while in full screen view.  To view the mini program guide, tap the screen, then tap Airing Now.

Result: The mini program guide displays. From here, you can select a new channel, scroll up or down the guide, or tap Close.

Record Programs and Set Reminders

Record ProgramsCox TV Connect allows you to schedule recordings to any Cox DVR within your home. You can record your favorite shows by tapping the program you would like to watch and clicking the Record button. For more details, see Schedule DVR Recording using Cox TV Connect.
Set RemindersYou can set a reminder for a show you want to watch using Cox TV Connect. Once a reminder is set, a notification message will display up to 15 minutes before the program starts. See Set Reminder for Program using Cox TV Connect for more details.

Settings


The Settings icon, located in the top right corner for iPad, or on the bottom menu bar of the iPhone of iPod Touch, allows you to View Terms and Conditions, Version, Share Your Feedback, and Sign Out of Cox TV Connect. Closed Captioning is available also for iPhone or iPod Touch users.

Sign Out of Cox TV Connect
  • You can sign out the app by tapping Sign Out of Cox TV Connect from the Settings menu; however, you can exit and re-launch the app without having to reenter your user ID and password by pressing the Home button.
    Note
    : After seven days the Cox TV Connect app will automatically sign you out and prompt you to reenter your primary user ID and password the next time you access the app.
  • To help conserve the battery, the app automatically signs out if it has not detected any use, such as channel or volume changes, for two hours. Before signing out, the app displays an Are you still there? message to confirm whether you are actively watching. To continue using the app, tap the OK button on the message within 30 seconds.
