Learn to set up a basic cable box connection to a standard TV, HDTV, or HDTV with HDMI.


If you experience video or audio issues after completing these steps, you may refer to the following articles:

1Connect the RF (coax) cable from the wall to the CABLE IN port on the cable receiver.

Select the video cable connection option and connect the video cable from the OUT port on your cable receiver to the IN port on your TV.

If you select HDMI or RF (coax) cable, proceed to step 4.

RF (coax) cable (Standard TV)

S-Video (Standard TV)

Composite (Standard TV)

Component (HDTV)


3Select the audio cable connection option and connect the audio cable from the cable receiver to the TV.


Digital Audio Coax

Digital Audio Optical


Plug in the power cords of the cable receiver and TV to the wall outlet.

Optional: Install other devices, such as a DVD player or audio amplifier according to the manufacturer's instructions.


Turn on the power to the TV and the cable receiver and select the proper channel or input on your TV from the list below:

  • RF (coax) cable: channel 3 or 4
  • S-Video or Composite (Standard TV): input or auxiliary 1, 2, 3...
  • Component (HDTV): component input 1, 2, 3...
  • HDMI (HDTV): the HDMI input 1, 2, 3...
6Install the batteries in the remote control.
7Program the remote.
