You must use the included Cox Digital Telephone® modem for both your Cox High Speed Internet® and Cox Digital Telephone services.

  2. Prepare for Digital Telephone Modem set up by doing the following:

New Cox High Speed Internet customers proceed to the next section.

  • Completely disconnect your existing cable modem and any associated cables.
  • Your new digital telephone modem will be used for both your Cox High Speed Internet┬« and Cox Digital Telephone service.
  • If using a wireless router, temporarily disconnect it and reconnect after the set up process is complete.

If you are currently leasing a cable modem from Cox, contact your local Cox office for return procedures in order to avoid additional charges.

Set up Digital Telephone modem

Use the following steps to set up your Digital telephone modem:

  1. Remove the white sticker from back of the digital telephone modem. Once removed, the Tel 1/2 port will be exposed.
  2. Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the port labeled Ethernet on the back of the digital telephone modem, and the other end to your computer's ethernet port.
  3. Connect one end of the coax cable to the cable wall jack, and the other end to the port labeled Cable on the back of the Digital Telephone modem.
  4. Connect the power cord to the port on the Digital Telephone modem labeled Power, and the other end to an electrical outlet or surge protector.

Connect Cordless Phone to Digital Telephone Modem

Connect one end of the telephone cord into the port labeled Tel 1/2 on the back of the digital telephone modem, and the other end to a Cordless Phone.

DO NOT plug the telephone cord into a phone wall jack.  Use only the Tel 1/2 on the back of the modem. In the event of a power outage, you will need to replace your cordless phone with a corded phone in the Tel 1/2 port of the digital telephone modem.
