TV Caller ID lets you view incoming calls right from your TV. Learn how to use and manage the TV Caller ID feature if you subscribe to Cox Digital Telephone with Caller ID and Cox Advanced TV.

Solution

TV Caller ID allows you to see who is calling from the comfort of your couch. Select your guide or equipment to learn how to use and adjust TV Caller ID. 

Not all platforms offer the same features and settings for TV Caller ID.


Contour 2

Learn to use and manage your TV Caller ID with Contour 2. 

To exit from any TV Caller ID menu, press EXIT or LAST on your remote control.

Accessing the TV Caller ID Settings Menu  

Use these steps to access the TV Caller ID Settings menu within the Contour service.

  1. Press the CONTOUR button on your Cox remote to access the Main Menu.
  2. Press the right or left arrow to highlight the gear icon, then press OK.
  3. Press the up or down arrows to highlight Preferences, then press OK.
  4. Press the up or down arrows to highlight Notifications, then press OK

Turning TV Caller ID On or Off  

Turn TV Caller ID on or off using one of the processes below.
 

Using Your Voice Remote

Press and hold the microphone button and say : 

  • "Turn On TV Caller ID" to enable TV Caller ID.
  • "Turn Off TV Caller ID" to disable TV Caller ID.

Using the Remote Buttons

Follow the steps below.

  1. Press the CONTOUR button on your Cox remote to access the Main Menu.
  2. Press the right or left arrow to highlight the gear icon, then press OK.
  3. Press the up or down arrows to highlight Preferences, then press OK.
  4. Press the up or down arrows to highlight Notifications, then press OK.
  5. Press the up or down arrows to highlight Contour Voice, then press OK to turn On or Off.

Notes:

  • Contour Voice / TV Caller ID setting is specific to each receiver.
  • Turning off all Notifications will disable Caller ID banners.
  • The onscreen description incorrectly states that Contour Voice notifications include incoming phone calls and text messages. Text message notifications are not supported.

Changing the Banner Duration and Position  

The call banner, when enabled, displays the caller information on the TV screen when the customer receives an incoming call.
 

Currently, changing the banner duration or position is not available for Contour 2. 

Viewing Call History Logs  

View Call Log information by following the process in Using Phone Tools. To view notifications that may include up to the last 24 hours of call history, follow the steps below.

  1. Turn on notifications Using Contour 2 Settings Menu.
  2. Press the CONTOUR button on your Cox remote to access the Settings menu.
  3. Use the up and down arrows to highlight Labs, then press OK.
  4. Highlight Control Panel, then press OK to turn the feature on.
  5. Press EXIT to return to the current program.
  6. Press the left arrow to access the Control Panel.
  7. Press the left arrow to view notifications and calls available since the last time the receiver was rebooted.

Contour

Follow the steps below to use and manage your TV Caller ID within the Contour service.

Note: To exit from any TV Caller ID menu, press EXIT on your remote control.

Accessing the TV Caller ID Settings Menu

Use these steps to access the TV Caller ID Settings menu within the Contour service.

  1. Press the MENU button on your remote control to access the Main Menu.
  2. Use the UP or down arrows to highlight Interactive Services, then press SELECT.
  3. Use the up or down arrows to highlight Phone Tools, then press SELECT.
  4. Use the up or down arrows to highlight TV Caller ID, then press SELECT.

Turning TV Caller ID On or Off

Use these steps to turn TV Caller ID on or off once you have accessed the TV Caller ID Settings menu within the Contour service.

  1. Use the up or down arrows to highlight Caller ID Banner, then press SELECT.
  2. Use the up or down arrows to highlight ON or OFF, then press SELECT.

Changing the Banner Duration and Position

Use these steps to change how long and where the TV Caller ID banner displays once you have accessed the TV Caller ID Settings menu within the Contour service.


If changing the...Then...
Banner Duration
  1. Use the up or down arrows to highlight Duration, then press SELECT.
  2. Use the up or down arrows to choose for how many seconds the banner displays on your TV.

  1. Press EXIT to save your changes and return to the TV Caller ID menu.
Banner Position
  1. Use the up or down arrows buttons to highlight Banner Location, then press SELECT.
  2. Use the up or down arrows to highlight bottom or right, then press SELECT to save your changes and return to the TV Caller ID menu.

Viewing Call History Logs

Use these steps to view the call history logs.

  1. Press the up or down arrows to highlight Call Logs, then press SELECT.
  2. Navigate the Call History List using Page + and Page - .

Call History is not cleared after rebooting the receiver.

TV Caller ID lets you view incoming calls and incoming call history right from your TV. Follow the steps below to use and manage your TV Caller ID.

Note: To exit from any TV Caller ID menu, simply tune to another channel or press the LAST button on your remote control.

Accessing the TV Caller ID Settings Menu

TV Caller ID settings are not accesible through the onscreen menu. Tune to the appropriate channel number in the table below to view and change TV Caller ID settings.

Turning TV Caller ID On or Off

Use these steps to turn TV Caller ID on or off once you have accessed the TV Caller ID Settings menu.

  1. Use the up or down arrow buttons on your remote control to highlight the Caller ID Status option.
  2. Use the left or right arrows to select either ENABLE (ON) or DISABLE (OFF).
  3. Press A to save your changes and return to the TV Caller ID menu.

Changing the Banner Duration

Use these steps to change how long the TV Caller ID banner displays once you have accessed the TV Caller ID Settings menu.

  1. Use the up or down arrows to highlight the Notification Duration option, then press SELECT.
  2. Use the up or down arrows to change the Notification Duration.
    • Short: Displays on the TV for 15 seconds
    • Medium: Default setting, displays on the TV for 30 seconds
    • Long: Displays on the TV for 60 seconds
  3. Press A to save your changes and return to the TV Caller ID menu.

Viewing Call History Logs

Use these steps to view the call history logs inside of TV Caller ID once you have accessed the TV Caller ID Settings menu.

  1. Press the up or down arrows to highlight the Call History option, then press SELECT.
  2. Navigate the Call History List using the Page + and Page - buttons.

Notes

  • To delete Call History, press C while viewing the Call History List.
  • Call History is cleared after rebooting the receiver.
