Using the HTML Editor in Classic WebMail

Solution

Want to add some distinction to your email messages? You can add color, links, as well as use different fonts and text sizes in Classic WebMail.

Before beginning, make sure you are signed in to Classic WebMail.

  1. Go to webmail.cox.net.
  2. Enter User ID and Password.
  3. Click the Classic WebMail radio button.
  4. Click Sign In.

Composing a Message in the HTML Editor 

To create a message with additional formatting options, follow the steps below.

  1. From the WebMail Inbox, click Compose.
  2. From the Compose Mail window, click HTML Editor.
     
    Notes:
    • When clicking HTML Editor, it may take a few seconds for the Java applet to load. A coffee cup in the upper left corner of the gray window displays.
    • HTML Editor mode offers an additional 14 icons on the menu bar to customize your email message.

Compose your email message by completing the following fields.

  • Enter an email address in the To: field or click To: to select a contact from the Addresses pop-up window that displays. For more information on managing contacts, refer to Managing Contacts in Classic WebMail.

    Note: You can also enter an email address in the CC: and Bcc: fields or click CC: or Bcc: to choose contacts from Addresses.
     
  • Enter the body of your email message in the text box.

  1. Click Send.
  2. To return to using plain text, click Plain.

Automatically Composing in the HTML Editor 

To automatically create email messages in the HTML Editor, follow the steps below.

  1. From the WebMail Inbox, click Settings.

  2. From Message Settings window, click Preferences.

  1. Place a check in the By default, compose messages using the graphical editor box.
  2. Click OK.

Changing Font Size and Color 

To change the size and color of your email message text, follow the steps below.

  1. From the WebMail Inbox, click Compose.
  2. From the Compose Mail window, click HTML Editor.

Compose your email message by completing the following fields.

  • Enter an email address in the To: field or click To: to select a contact from the Addresses pop-up window that displays. For more information on managing contacts, refer to Managing Contacts in Classic WebMail.

    Note: You can also enter an email address in the CC: and Bcc: fields or click CC: or Bcc: to choose contacts from Addresses.
     
  • Enter the body of your email message in the text box.

  1. Highlight the text you want to customize.
  2. Use the following options to change your text appearance.
    • To change font size, click the Font Size drop-down menu to select a new font size. You cannot set a default font in the editor.
    • To change font color, click the Change Text Color icon to pick the desired color from the color palette and then click OK. The HSV, HSL, RGB, and CMYK tabs offer more customized color creation.

Click Send.

Changing the Background Color of a Message 

To change the background color of your email message, follow the steps below.

  1. From the WebMail Inbox, click Compose.
  2. From the Compose Mail window, click HTML Editor.

  1. Click the Change Fill Color icon.
  2. From the Choose Color window, pick the desired color from the color palette. The color displays under Preview.
  3. Click OK to accept the new background color.

    Note: To go back to a white background color, select the white color square from the color palette.

Adding Links to a Message 

To add hyperlinks in your email message, follow the steps below.

  1. From the WebMail Inbox, click Compose.
  2. From the Compose Mail window, click HTML Editor.

  1. Place your cursor in the body of the message where the link is to be inserted.
  2. Click the Insert Link icon.
  3. From the Insert Link window, enter the website URL you want to link.
  4. Click OK.
