Modifying an Authorized User in My Account

Summary

Learn how to manage an Authorized User ID in My Account.

Solution

Not all User IDs created for an account can perform the same functions by default. Refer to Understanding Digital Identities and Account Types for more information. If you have no Authorized Users on your account, see Add an Authorized User to My Account.

In a web browser, go to ww2.cox.com.

Click the My Account tab.

Log in with your Account Holder user ID and password, then click Sign In.

Note: You must log in with the Account Holder user ID or an Authorized User with Billing and Account privelages in order to create an a new Authorized User ID. For more information, see Understanding Digital Identities and Account Types.

From the My Account window, under Manage Profile, click the Manage Users link.


Result: The Authorized Users window displays.

Complete the following:

  1. Select the Authorized User ID that you would like to modify.
  2. Click the Modify button.

Complete the following:

  1. You can edit any of the following for the authorized user:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • User ID Nickname
    • Password
    • Billing and Payment Access - Select this option if you would like to grant this user the same ability to manage the account billing and payment areas as the Account Holder. For more information, see Understanding Digital Identities and Account Types.
  1. Click the Submit button.

Result: A confirmation page is displayed as well as an confirmation email with the changes made to the user.

Click Continue.
 

Result: The Authorized Users window is displayed with the new user added.

Modifying Settings as an Authorized User


Authorized users can modify their password or account information following the steps below.

In a web browser, go to ww2.cox.com.

Hover over the My Account tab, and select either Change Password or Identity and Preferences

Log in with your Authorized User ID and password, then click Sign In.

Editing the Password

To change the password, use the following steps.

  1. Enter the current password.
  2. Enter and reenter a new password.
    Note: A password meter will show the strength of the new password selected.
  3. Click the Continue button.

Changing the Name or Nickname

To change the name or nickname, use the following steps.

  1. Enter the new name for the identity.
  2. Add a nickname for this identity.
    Note: This is optional.
  3. Click the Continue button.

Result: The a confirmation window will display your changes.
