Summary

Learn how to manage an Authorized User in My Account.

Solution

Not all User IDs created for an account can perform the same functions by default. Refer to Understanding Digital Identities and Account Types for more information.
 

Authorized User in My Account are for online access only. Customers who contact Cox by phone to discuss account issues cannot use their Cox Digital Identity as a form of identification.

Modifying Authorized User Settings as an Account Holder

Account Holders can modify Authorized User information by using the steps below.

In a web browser, go to www.cox.com.

  • From the Cox.com home page, click Sign In My Account.
  • Enter your primary User ID and Password, then click Sign In.

    Note: You must log in as the primary Account Holder to create or modify an Authorized User.

Click View Profile.

Under My Profile, click Add & Manage Users.

Click Modify User next to the secondary user name.

Result: The Modify User section displays.

  1. You can edit any of the following fields.
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Nickname
    • Password
    • Recovery Email
    • Allow this Secondary User complete access to all billing and payment areas.

      Note: Place a check in the Allow this Secondary User complete access to all billing and payment areas. box to grant an Authorized User the same access to the account billing and payment areas as the Account Holder. For more information, see Understanding Digital Identities and Account Types.
  2. Click Save Changes.

Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.

Modifying Settings as an Authorized User

Authorized Users can modify their passwords and other account information by using the steps below.

In a web browser, go to www.cox.com.

  • From the Cox.com home page, click Sign In My Account.
  • Enter your User ID and Password, then click Sign In.

Click View Profile.

You can edit any of the following.

Name or Nickname
  1. In the Profile section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Enter the new name for the identity.
  3. Add a nickname for this identity.

    Note: This is optional.
     
  4. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
Password
  1. In the Security section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Enter the current password.
  3. Enter and reenter a new password.
  4. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
Recovery Email
  1. In the Security section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Update the Recovery Email
  3. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
Security Questions and Answer
  1. In the Security section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Use the drop down to select you Security Question.
  3. Enter your Security Answer.
  4. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
