Solution

Arming modes for the Cox Homelife system are listed below:

  • Away - everyone is going away from the home.
  • Stay - someone might be staying in the home.
  • Night - everyone is in for the night, and no one will enter or leave after arming.

You can be notified when the system is armed via email and text messages.
 

The specific equipment that will be activated in each of the arming modes are indicated in the table below.

Arming and Disarming Your Cox Homelife System

Learn the steps to arm or disarm your Cox Homelife system using any of the following devices:


Arming and Disarming Using Key Fob

  • Arm
  • On the key fob, press the Arm Away button for 1.5 seconds to arm the system.

    Result: The LED flashes red once to indicate that it has contacted the system, then lights red for one second.

    If a door or window is open, the Exit Delay starts at this time. There is a 30 second default period before the system is active. The LED will flash orange seven times if the system is not ready.
     

  • Disarm
  • Press the Disarm button on the Cox Homelife key fob.

    Result: The LED flashes green once to indicate that it has contacted the system and then lights green for one second.


Arming and Disarming Using Keypad

The wireless keypad allows the user to arm the system to the different arming modes and disarm the system.

  • Arm Away Mode - Use this mode when no one is on the premises.
    1. Enter a valid keypad code.
    2. Press the Arm Away button Arm Away Button to place the system in Arm Away mode.

      Result: The Unarmed button turns red for three seconds.
  • If a door or window is open, the Exit Delay starts at this time. There is a 30 second default period before the system is active. The LED will flash orange seven times if the system is not ready.
     

  • Arm Stay Mode - Use this mode when the home / office is still occupied.
    1. Enter a valid keypad code.
    2. Press the Arm Stay button Arm Stay Button to arm the system in Arm Stay mode.

    • Result: The Unarmed button turns red for three seconds.
  • If a door or window is open, the Exit Delay starts at this time. There is a 60 second default period (120 seconds maximum) with no beeping from the touchscreen. The LED will flash orange seven times if the system is not ready.
     

  • Disarm - To disable Away or Stay modes.
    1. Enter a valid key pad code.
    2. Press the Unlock buttonUnlock Button to disarm the system.

      Result: The unlock button turns green for three seconds to indicate that the system has been disarmed.
  • There is no entry delay period.

Arming the System

Note: Ensure the system is in the ready state with all active zones closed, and the green LED on the keypad lit, before arming.

  1. Press the desired mode button.

    Arm Away Button Arm Away Mode - Use this mode when no one is on the premises.

    Arm Stay Button Arm Stay Mode - Use this mode when the home / office is still occupied.

    Arm Night Button Arm Night Mode - Use this mode when everyone is in for the night.
  2. Enter a valid keypad code.

    Result: The arming status selected starts to blink and the keypad makes an audible tone indicating that the arming state has started.

Note: When there are 10 seconds left before arming, the beeping of the keypad will increase in frequency until the system is armed.
 

Disarming the System

  • Enter a valid keypad code within the 30 second allotted time.
  • If a delayed zone is opened before the system is disarmed, the keypad blinks and beeps to indicate that the system will alarm if the system is not disarmed with 30 seconds.

Arming the Security System with the Mobile Application
 

The steps below will allow you to arm your Cox Homelife system from your mobile phone.

  1. Open and log in to the Cox Homelife mobile application.
  2. From the My Home screen, tap Disarmed – Press to Arm.

  3. From the Arming screen, select the desired arming mode and enter your 4 digit keypad code.
    • Is someone staying in your home? Tap Stay.

      Note: You may want to arm only certain zones.

    • Is no one staying in your home? Tap Away.

      Note: You may want to arm all zones.

    • Is someone staying in your home? Tap Night.

      Note: You may want to arm only certain zones.
  4. The system will give you a countdown, during which you may cancel. To cancel arming, you will need to re-enter your security code.

Once the system is armed, the green bar at the top of the Security screen changes to red and reads Armed (Stay, Away, or Night) - Press to Disarm.
 

Faulted Security Zones
 

The mobile app alerts you of a faulted security zone. If a protected door is left open, the app alerts you at the time of arming. If any security zones are faulted and prevent the system from being armed, an alert displays.

Tap BYPASS to bypass a faulted zone before arming the system.
 

Note: If you bypass a zone or sensor, they are not monitored and will not cause an alarm to be reported to the Central Monitoring Station if they are tripped. If any rules are associated with that zone or sensor, the rules will not be triggered while in the bypassed state.
 

Bypassed zones will return to their ON, or protected, state each time your system is disarmed.

Disarming the Security System
 

The steps below will allow you to disarm your Cox Homelife system from your mobile phone.

  1. On the Home screen, tap the red Security – Armed icon.
  2. Or, on the Security screen, tap the red Armed – Press to Disarm icon.
  3. Enter your four-digit keypad code to disarm the system.

Arming and Disarming using Subscriber Portal

  • Arm
    1. On the My Home page, click the green Disarmed - Click to Arm tile. 
    2. From the Arming window, select the Arming Mode, Stay, Away, or Night.
    3. Enter the Keypad Code. The system begins the countdown to Arm.

If any security zones are currently faulted, preventing the system from being armed, you will be alerted to these faults at the time of arming.

Faulted Security Zones

To bypass a faulted zone during the arming process, click BYPASS for that zone before arming the system.

If you bypass a zone or sensor, they are not monitored and will not cause an alarm to be reported to the Central Monitoring Station if they are tripped. If any rules are associated with that zone or sensor, the rules will not be triggered while in the bypassed state.

Bypassed zones will return to their ON, or protected, state each time your system is disarmed.

 

  • Disarm
    1. On the My Home page, click the red Armed - Click to Disarm tile.
    2. Enter the Keypad Code.
    3. The security tile displays Disarmed.

Arming and Disarming Using Touchscreen

  • Arm Stay
    1. On the touchscreen, touch the Security widget or touch the Disarmed - Press to Arm button on the Home screen.
    2. Choose the Arm System tab.
    3. Touch Arm Stay.
    4. Enter your Keypad Code.
  • Arm Away
    1. On the touchscreen, touch the Security widget or touch the Disarmed - Press to Arm button on the Home screen.
    2. Choose the Arm System tab.
    3. Touch Arm Away.
    4. Enter your Keypad Code.
  • Arm Night
    1. On the touchscreen, touch the Security widget or touch the Disarmed - Press to Arm button on the Home screen.
    2. Choose the Arm System tab.
    3. Touch Arm Night.
    4. Enter your Keypad Code.

Notes:

  • The touchscreen generates short, audible alerts while arming, indicating 60 seconds for exit. When you enter your home when the system is armed, you will hear audible alerts for 30 seconds.
  • If any security zones are currently faulted, preventing the system from being armed, you must click the Turn Zone Off button for that zone before arming the system.
  • Turning zones off means that they will not cause an alarm to be faulted if they are tripped.
  • Disarm
    1. Press the Armed – Press to Disarm button on the
      Home screen.
    2. Enter your Keypad Code.
