Learn the steps to change your secret word (central station passcode) in the Cox Homelife mobile app, Subscriber Portal and Touchscreen.
The secret word (central station passcode) validates that you have authority when speaking with the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) and it is also used to cancel a false alarm. These steps describe how to change your secret word in the Cox Homelife mobile app, Subscriber Portal, and on the Touchscreen.
Important: Make your secret word easy to remember, pronounce, and spell. This ensures your secret word is accepted by the CMS when canceling an alarm.
Sign in to the Cox Homelife Mobile App.
To change the secret word, select More menu and click Account.
On the Account screen, scroll down to the Secret Word section and click Unlock To View/Edit.
Enter your Master Code in the keypad to proceed.
Result: The current secret word (Central Monitoring Station passcode) displays.
Enter a new Secret word and click SAVE ALL to accept the changes.
Sign in to the Cox Homelife Subscriber Portal.
On the Account window, scroll down to the Secret Word section and click Unlock To View/Edit.
On the Account Verification window, enter the Master Code.
- The current secret password (Central Monitoring Station passcode) displays.
- Enter a new Secret Password and click SAVE ALL to accept the changes.
Select Settings >Advanced Settings >Security Secret Word on the touchscreen.
Result: The Set Security Secret Word screen displays.
To change the secret word, tap the Secret Word field.
Result: A keyboard displays that enables you to change the secret word.
Enter the new secret word.
Tap DONE to save the changes or CANCEL to exit.
The steps below include the instructions for the Classic View of the Subscriber Portal.
Log into the Cox Homelife Subscriber Portal.
To change the secret word, select Security > Emergency Dispatch Setup on the toolbar off the Subscriber Portal homepage.
Result: The Emergency Dispatch Setup page displays.
Click Unlock To View/Edit.
Result: The Account Verification window displays.
Enter the Keypad Master Code.
Result: The current secret word (central station passcode) displays.
Enter a new secret word and click SAVE to accept the changes or CANCEL to exit.
