Learn the Zone Function Definitions used by Cox Homelife.
Security zones are the sensors that detect movement and the opening and closing of doors and windows. The sensors communicate wirelessly with your touchscreen. Security zones are added to the system and configured by your installer. You can enable and disable each security zone using the Security app. The table below lists zone functions, their definitions, and the sensor affected for the Cox Homelife system.
|Zone Function||Sensor Type||Definition|
|Entry / Exit||Door / Window||Entry / Exit allows exiting the premise when the system is arming and begins an entry delay countdown when opened if the system is armed. These zones can be bypassed and can have specific tones assigned for open and close events.|
|Perimeter||Door / Window / Motion / Glass Break||Perimeter zones generate an alarm immediately if tripped while the system is armed. These zones can be bypassed and can have specific tones assigned for open and close events.|
|Interior Follower||Motion||Interior Follower provides a delayed alarm if the entry / exit is faulted first. Otherwise this zone type triggers an instant alarm. Allows user to pass through the motion to disarm the system after entering through an entry/exit zone. Active when the touchscreen is armed and in the Arm Away mode only.|
|Interior Arm Night||Motion||Interior Follow - Arm Night protects an area of the house that would normally not have any movement. If the motion sensor detects motion, an alarm is generated instantly. Active only when the touchscreen is armed in Arm Night mode and provides motion sensor capabilities.|
|24-Hour Fire||Smoke Alarm||24-Hour fire zones generate an immediate fire alarm if triggered. These zones cannot be bypassed.|
Door / Window
|24-Hour inform zones provide a notification via the touchscreen, subscriber portal, and apps when motion is detected. The zones never generate an alarm and are active whether the touchscreen is armed or is not armed. A configured sound is heard when events are generated. Common uses are to detect occupancy or trigger a rule, such as turn on a light when someone enters a room.|
|Interior With Delay||Motion||Entry Delay begins whenever the motion sensor detects motion, regardless of whether or not an entry / exit delay zone was tripped first. It provides an entry delay if the motion sensor is tripped when the touchscreen is armed. Active only when the touchscreen is armed in the Arm Away mode.|
|Interior Delay Arm Night||Motion||Interior Delay Arm Night protects an area of the house with motion, but the user needs to pass through the motion sensor area to disarm the system. It provides a delay to the motion sensor if the motion sensor is tripped. The delay begins whenever the motion sensor detects motion. Active only when the touchscreen is armed in the Arm Night mode.|
|Silent 24-Hour||Door / Window||Silent 24-Hour is usually assigned to a zone containing an emergency button. Sends a report to the monitoring station, but provides no keypad display or sound. An alarm is issued whether system is armed or disarmed.|
|Audible 24-Hour||Door / Window / CO2 / Water||Audible 24-Hour is usually assigned to a zone containing an emergency button. This function emits an audible alarm from the touchscreen, siren, and other siren-capable devices. An alarm is issued whether system is armed or disarmed.|
|Trouble Day / Alarm Night||Door / Window||Trouble Day / Alarm Night provides an instant alarm if faulted when armed in Arm Night mode.|
