More than 100 Cox employees volu

More than 100 Cox employees
volunteered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands during
Cox
C onnects Week. Each day, a new volunteer crew went to "work" at
a new club. Activities included helping with homework, playing
games, reading books and just having conversations. While the
intent of the day is to make a positive impression on the life
of a child, a major impact is also made on the life of our
volunteers. Read what some of the
Cox volunteers had to say about their
experiences

"Volunteering
at the Boys and Girls Club was such a great experience. You don’t
realize how much the kids appreciate it until you see their little
faces light up when you walk in the room. I really felt like I made
a difference with just 2 hours of my time."

"The hard work of the Boys &
Girls Clubs' volunteers is
truly inspiring. Not only does it give kids something to do after
school, it provides a positive atmosphere for them to flourish. What
a truly enjoyable experience."

"I
was absolutely amazed at the eager faces beaming at me in
anticipation of a wonderful, busy afternoon. Since my kids are
older, I had forgotten how much excitement can be generated by
young people. I had a wonderful time that left me excited
and fulfilled after seeing how much fun was had by everyone.
This made me realize that I was probably the biggest kid of the
bunch and next year cannot happen fast enough."

"Our visit to the South Omaha Boys & Girls Club was inspiring.
From the moment I arrived it was clear that the young people
were excited to be at the Club. While they waited to check in,
they smiled, hugging one another joining the line, like they
were embracing brothers and sisters. This enthusiastic,
companionship and respect carried over once the boys and girls
were inside. From the gym to the computer room, from the game
room to the teens, everyone was engaged in the many activities
available at the Club. I met a bright-eyed future during our
brief visit. I just wonder what an extra hand or an extra $20
would mean to the children I was privileged to meet."

“It was
an honor to meet such wonderful, intelligent and cheerful kids.
I was most impressed with how the Boys & Girls Clubs help
the kids stay focused on what they are
doing – whether it's playing, studying or even having dinner.
I'm proud my company
is closely associated with a great organization like the Clubs
and allowed me the opportunity to support them.”

"I really
appreciated being included in this experience. We were there to help
the children, but really they helped me. Seeing their smiling faces
and their willingness to learn made me feel better. Community and
building bridges is very important and teaching to kids at a young
age will positively influence them for years to come."
